The location was perfect, it was ideal to access facilities for dining in the evening. Beautiful setting and location.

Other people staying, slamming doors, in particular the entrance to the building and the room next to us. However, we appreciate that it is difficult due to the decor and building layout.

Double room was quite small (one side of bed against wall – see hotel photos) but the bed was fine and adequate for two people. Wifi worked fine, as did the TV. Everything was clean. Oddly, there were no cups in the room or in the kitchen, so we had to organise our own drinking vessels. The price was very reasonable, and for 2 nights our accommodation was perfectly acceptable. The location is the best thing about the Spinney: a couple of minutes' walk to the railway station, the bus station, and the town's large shopping precinct, The Lexicon. A very nice, friendly café is also only a couple of minutes' walk from the Spinney, right beside the bus station. The house is on a quiet residential street. Overall, perfectly satisfactory given that our accommodation was so competitively priced.

Sadly, the couple in the next room who came in late on our second night (during Ascot Week) did not seem to have made note of the house rules, clacking up and down the hallway in high heels, banging things in the kitchen, talking very loudly and dropping stuff noisily. Obviously not the Spinney's fault but perhaps more needs to be done to insulate against noise.

Good exterior, sound travels through the walls really well so you can hear everything going on outside the windows, in the room next door, and upstairs. We especially loved that the cleaning supplies were stored in the side alley right outside our bedroom window, so the cleaning lady had to walk back and forth on loud gravel from early in the morning and could see straight into our bedroom.

Terrible ventilation, no AC, strange creaking and banging noises all through the night, awful shower with no hot water. But apart from that, we hated it.

Our stay was a complete and utter shambles we paid an additional £15 for early check in. We couldn't get in, infact this made us super late to our event. There were 3 other couples complaining. The cleaners didn't speak a word of English. The room was incredibly basic. Flat batteries in tv remote, bulbs not working main light. No hand towels. The shower was literally a pipe sticking out from the ceiling. Absolute disgrace. We have asked for a refund inc our £15 for the early check in. They ate ignoring us, and infact messaged us their direct details telling us to bypass you in the future for better rates. Id suggest you remove them from your listing

Location good for the races

Lack of facilities, no cup to make coffee in, no face wash, no bath mat, no hairdryer which was particularly upsetting as I needed to get ready for the races.
