Hotel Merkur Interlaken

We where shifted to another hotel as they where overbooked but gave us a reason that the room is damaged so be carefull when you book with them

We had a 2 night stat at this place and it was the rudest of all.The staff are so rude, they made fun of foreign tourists while answering basic questions on windows, stating the swiss style.Also, the reception was always emty and even if we waited to ask qns, still they kept on having chit chat.The room has no ac and the fan speed is below high for a warm weather.It was small and no cleaning of washroom with room service.Shall recommend every one not to stat there.Only advantage was the location thats it!

The breakfast is very good. I hope there are a washer and dryer too.

Location is right at the Interlaken station, which is excellent. Breakfast had enough options, including vegetarian and the lady at the kitchen was helpful. Housekeeping was perfect and beds were comfortable. We got the river view room which has excellent views, as we had pre-booked earlier. Only recommendation is to build a ramp, as the hotel can only entered through stairs, which is difficult for physically challenged/handicapped people and people with a lot of heavy luggage.

I had to write this review to make sure people knows the issue in the place. I went with a family of four and booked only for 3 hence they asked me to pay more and I got a additional room. I don't blame the hotel for this but the way the lady in the reception treated us was like freaking terrible glad Nora and the manager saved some face. I would seriously ask the management to look into the people they hire. When I was checking out I was told to leave the key in the room yet when I was checking out and rushing to catch my train the same lady at the reception was sooo rude made me go up and fetch the room key. First time in the history of travel after visiting 20 countries some one said that I have to handover the key before leaving. She is the worst person the hotels have at front desk.. Pls let her be in a desk job but don't make her meet you guest. Lets talk good things, it's close to station and 15 min walk to Interlaken ost and just Opp to Interlaken west.

Hotel is very dirty I ask to clean tub the said it’s one they can offer Hotels.com site mention child stay free at last moment the charge more than 1/3 room fare

We had room 28 and it wasn’t very good at all, especially the bathroom. The walls in the bathroom have mould throughout including the light and the shower head. This is not at all hygienic. Not pleasant for a 3 night stay. The floors were pretty dusty and not very clean. The ceiling fan was pretty dirty and dusty, was worried to turn it on as all the dust would blow everywhere. Feels like im actually staying in a hostel. The mattresses seem very old as they curve right into the middle of the mattress. They need replacing aswell as the pillows The views outside the window were pretty good and the breakfast was ok. Breakfast is on the roof top which looks towards the pretty mountains and the city. The only good thing was, its directly across from Interlaken West train station. Didn’t really meet out expectations. Interlaken is a very nice city to explore with many mountains to check out and Paragliding is awesome. A must do.

Loved the convenient location to trains, buses, river, city center, and it felt safe.

Extremely convenient location - bang outside Interlaken West station and a lot of eateries and convenience stores around. Good spread of breakfast. Very efficient check-in and check-out processes. We managed to get an early check-in that helped us hit the road right away and begin our site seeing. Room felt a bit small, though I cant compare with other properties in similar price range!

Was a good stay for 3 nights.Breakfast was average.
