The hotel was nice and clean and the staff were great.

When come to the Caribbean you expect that you can eat local Caribbean food but that is not the case. This hotel only caters for Americans. So if you want experience a proper Caribbean holiday go to frigate bay where the hotels cater for both American and Caribbean food

The hotel was booked as part of a BA Holiday and I’m surprised this would be one of their offerings as it was disappointing and not up to the normal 4* standard of Hilton and the Curio Brand I have experienced in the past. I had booked an ocean view king room which was a nice big spacious room, comfortable bed with great views but the balcony was very sparsely decorated with 2 lone chairs and no table. That was when you worked out how to open the crazy heavy sliding door! Water wasn’t included but thankfully being a silver Hilton Honours member this entitled me to water but u had to request it on 3 out of the 4 days of my stay. It would have been helpful for reception to have maps of the island. They have a little shop which could be done out so much nicer. It has soft drinks, snacks and a few essential sanitary items but so much could be made of it selling postcards, local gifts etc The hotel had a nice well equipped gym on the 4th floor with 24 hour access. Things to bear in mind with the position of this hotel is that you lose the sun around 4pm, it’s very windy being on the Atlantic side and pool towels are a mission to get. You have to ask the restaurant staff and rather than having them all nicely folded by the pool they have to go and search in the back for them. Great if they’ve been laundered but not ideal when they’re still waiting to be done at 8.45am! It’s also worth noting the pool isn’t very big at all. There are about 15 sun loungers around the pool but when I checked in I was advised the hotel offered a shuttle at 11am to Frigate Bay with a return at 5.30pm but they don’t have any designated loungers there so you need to pay and sneak your pool towels out as they don’t allow you to take them out of the hotel and most people won’t have brought beach towels with them. A strange scenario to say the least as they don’t recommend swimming in the sea from the hotel. The ultra lounge and pool bar, which were the only 2 places for food open during my stay lacked any ambience and the quality of food was very disappointing. The breakfast is one of the worst I’ve had in a 4 star hotel. Very basic, no yoghurt or water which you’d expect on the most basic so essentially $20 for a cup If tea, stale croissant and some pineapple and melon. The dinner menu was very limited and given that there are no restaurant’s within walking distance it would have been better to have more choice. They didn’t offer any happy hour which would have attracted more business. All in all disappointing and not a fair reflection of what the island had to offer.

The staff is phenomenon. Petula,Janelle, Larissa, and the other staff, provided excellent customer service to me and my godmother during our stay.

I wish water bottles were placed in the rooms.

I called repeatedly trying to get in contact with delegates and the front desk experience was terrible. I was put on hold for minutes at a time. There needs to be more staff in reservations, in order to handle the phones and in person guests. Instead of pitying the length of time I had been holding on the phone, I was answered and placed on hold again. I hung and called again and I got a recording saying that call transfer had failed.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel could be updated. The pool was not very inviting. A bit off the beaten path. Overall, a good experience for the price.

This hotel was priced quite reasonably so I expected there might be a catch with the quality of the property. Instead, I was delighted by the size and newness of my room, the amenities, and the public areas of the property. The staff were pleasant to a fault. The only slight downside of this hotel is it's a little more remote than might appear on the map. I thought it would be walkable to Basseterre but it's more than an hour walk because the route is so convoluted. You really need a car or a scooter to stay here.
