La Vue D'Or

This always a great retreat away from the madness and heat of sorrrento and the Amalfi coast in July The staff were super helpful with our questions about getting around that they must hear 100s of times per day but still made us feel like it was the first time they’d been asked! Breakfast is great, wifi is great. It’s a bit faded grandeur but that adds to the charm, and it’s perfect for sunset beers from the sun deck with some amazing views! Kids had a great time in the pool. And the shuttle bus is really helpful.

'Fantastico'. This a relatively small hotel with 67 rooms. It is situated outside Sorrento sitting around 900 ft above the sea on the main road from Sorrento to Positano. Being that high means that you the best views across the Gulf of Naples towards Mt. Vesuvius. The hotel is well kept and clean, but the main reason the hotel is so good is the staff. They are very helpful and they all seem to enjoy what they do. We stayed half board and breakfast was mainly continental. Evening meal consisted of a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 3 desserts. There was always something on the menu that caught our eye. But there are no burger and fries on this menu, just local recipes cooked to perfection. It was like eating in a very good Italian restaurant every night. There is no evening entertainment here which suited us. Who could beat sitting on the terrace overlooking the Gulf of Naples, having a drink and a good chat. There is good Wi-fi here as well. The pool was a good size but there are not many sunbeds surrounding the area. However there wasn't too much towel placing..!! The hotel seemed to be used as a base for visiting the many places of interest around Sorrento and there is a free shuttle bus which runs from early morning to about 11.30pm which was great. I would like to thank Tony and his staff in the restaurant and Rosanna in the bar area. All the staff could do with a mention, but these two were stars. I would definitely recommend this hotel and we are already thinking about a return visit

The hotel is overlooking downtown Sorrento. The views are picturesque and breathtaking. There is a reliable shuttle that heads downtown regularly. The staff is friendly, attentive, and the accommodations at the hotel are very nice. The pool area is large and clean. The restaurant is delicious and breakfast is robust. Highly recommend.

Hotel La Vue D’or is a truly wonderful place to stay — peaceful, scenic, and a great base for exploring Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality stood out. Emanuele was especially helpful, providing us with a private taxi service that made transportation stress-free and convenient. The hotel itself sits high above the coast, offering absolutely breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Whether you’re relaxing on the terrace or just enjoying the scenery from your room, the panoramic vistas are a definite highlight of the stay. The complimentary shuttle bus to and from the city center was a major plus. It was always punctual and saved us from dealing with taxis or navigating parking. The only thing to keep in mind is that the shuttle runs on a set schedule, so you’ll need to plan your outings around those times — but it’s a fair trade-off for the convenience and cost savings. Our room was very spacious and clean, with a comfortable layout and plenty of room to unpack and relax. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was especially appreciated during the warmer days. The bed was a bit on the firmer side, and the pillows were thinner than we’re used to, but that may come down to personal preference. As for the food, both breakfast and dinner were decent. Breakfast offered a good variety (toast, eggs, bacon, beans, fruit, etc.) and dinner was satisfying, especially if you choose to dine on the terrace with that stunning view. It may not have been the most gourmet cuisine we had in Italy, but it was enjoyable and convenient. Overall, we had a great stay at Hotel La Vue D’or. The combination of helpful staff, stunning views, and reliable services made for a relaxing and memorable experience. We’d absolutely recommend it, especially for those looking for a quieter, scenic retreat just outside the hustle of central Sorrento.

First time in Sorrento and what a dream this hotel was. From first contact with staff on check in who were all so amazing, helpful, polite and friendly. The views are amazing and definitely worth booking this hotel for. Added bonus of a free shuttle bus than ran daily to and from Sorrento. Food was definitely up there with no complaints from us, buffet breakfast with something for everyone and evening meal choices which you chose at breakfast was fabulous. All in all amazing hotel and staff.

We had a wonderful 10 night stay at this lovely hotel. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Special mention to Tony in the restaurant, who was very entertaining. The hotel is spotlessly clean. We had a lovely view of the valley down to Sorrento above the pool. This was classed as partial sea view, and we could see part of the Bay of Naples. The room had everything we needed, maybe a few more coat hangers would have been good. There was a handy fridge and a free to use safe. The shower in the bathroom is great. The breakfast was lovely. Fresh fruits, pastries, continental and hot option of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and beans and toast. The evening meal consists of 3 courses, which you order at breakfast. There was always something tasty to choose from, and we were usually full at the end. You do have to pay for all drinks, but they put them on your room tab, which you pay when you check out. The views from the outside eating terrace are spectacular. Great pool with lovely sunbeds. Mainly adults staying so was lovely and peaceful and relaxing. Used the handy shuttle bus frequently to get down the hill to Sorrento. It stops running midday until about 3pm, so we either went down fairly early, or in the evening. Last bus is 11.30. We booked two trips at reception. One to Capri and one a minibus tour of the Amalfi Coast. Both were great and we would recommend. We has the most relaxing wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel.

Lovely hotel with spectacular views over the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The staff were perfect. Free hourly shuttle bus into Sorrento - it's not easy to walk in as the roads have no pavements and are steep and windy. Nice pool. Plenty of sunbeds although not all have parasols. We were lucky and got a room with the view. It seems not all rooms have a view - with one or two looking directly into other rooms about 3m away. We heard a few people asking to swap. The BIG downside and the only reason for 3 stars - the food. We booked with TUI half board. This was a big mistake as it soon became clear we were being treated as second class citizens. Other guests had access to the proper hotel menu. As TUI half board guests we were restricted to a small set menu of very low quality and small portions. Main course example: piece of fish, one small roast potato sliced up, one spoonful of overcooked roast veg. It was eaten in 5 minutes and was very bland and never any sauce or gravy. Not much variation on this. On day four I went for what i thought was a safe option - hamburger. Well! It was the final nail in the coffin. My plate arrived with literally a dry beefburger patty (yes just the meat) in the middle of my plate with a cheese slice on it, one small sliced up roast potato, and a pile of boiled carrots. All around us were people eating proper food from the hotel menu. This was the last straw and we ate in Sorrento from then on. Certainly TUI half board customers are made to feel like second class citizens and knowing we were going to be treated as such we would have looked at booking elsewhere. We can only assume TUI don't pay the hotel enough for them to give you proper food, or the hotel is milking you. Either way it's totally out of order and somebody's having your pants down. It would be better to charge the extra and give you decent food. Very poor show from TUI. After many years we have only just decided to try TUI again - we will use a different company in future or just book B&B. So in summary; lovely hotel, lovely staff, you may be lucky with a great view from your room, quite appalling food on half board basis with TUI.
