La Vue D'Or

We had an amazing stay at the hotel. The staff were exceptional, so friendly and helpful. We had a couple of queries about getting to places and the couldnt have been more helpful. We booked a trip to Amalfi & Positano with them and it was a great trip, would highly recommend. We had some issues with our transfer on the way home, the reception staff went above and beyond to help us with this and rectify it for us. A stunning, peaceful hotel up in the hills away from all the hussle and bussle of Sorrento. The free shuttle bus into the centre was a god send, and probably the best aperol spritz we had on our holiday! Dont have one negative comment to say about our experience. Thank you to all the staff.

Our recent one-night stay at La Vue D’Or Hotel in Sorrento was nothing short of exceptional. We were fortunate to have a room with a stunning view of Mount Vesuvius, which truly enhanced our experience. The serene, quiet location of the hotel offered breathtaking vistas that made our stay even more memorable. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel genuinely welcomed, showcasing a level of hospitality that went above and beyond. A special mention must be given to their thoughtful assistance in arranging for a forgotten pack of clothes to be sent back to our home in the USA—they handled this with remarkable efficiency and care. In summary, La Vue D’Or combines amazing views, a peaceful setting, and outstanding service. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sorrento.

Just been here for a week . Overall lovely hotel , staff could not do enough for everyone. Shuttle service to Sorrento was great and worth doing as a taxi up is 50 euros ! We were half board and evening meals can be a bit hectic but ok if you’re patient ! Be good if there was a bit of entertainment in the evening as it’s very quiet also be good if there was at least one other English speaking channel on the TV alongside Sky news ! Overall very positive and I would recommend

Great service, nice food, and most importantly the shuttle service was really convenient. I was hoping that the management can provide shuttle every 30 min instead of every one hour.

This is a really well run hotel. The views are spectacular, they really are. If visiting Sorrento this is a great place to stay. It is 15 mins from the center, but, much better for it. The free shuttle bus runs every hour and is on time. A real bonus as there is not any bars or restaurants you can walk too. Why only 4 stars. Unfortunately we had an issue with our room. 357. It had a damp drain smell radiating from the bathroom. After putting in a complaint, the manager, changed us into another room, 157, which was better in every respect - thank you. Drinks prices are a bit steep. €7.50 for a .4lt of beer. However, not really a problem. We ate in the hotel at night. “Fantastico” Tony always on hand to make you feel welcome. Food variety ok, quality ok. Nothing exceptional but nothing terrible either. Staff are really excellent. Very clean throughout.

The room allocated to us was on the first floor above the pool and had a strong smell of chlorine and when we asked to be moved we were charged 30 euros per night Breakfast leaves a lot to be desired and compares poorly to many other experiences I've had Lunch is also poor and doesn't even match that of a low standard cafe The shuttle was a lifesaver as we were able to go to Sorrento for decent food

Enjoyed the mountain top views of Sorrento and Vesuvius. Staff was really helpful, shout out to Tony in the restaurant! Really enjoyed our relaxation days there and they offered an easy day trip to the Amalfi coast at a low cost.

First the positives: the staff are mostly friendly and helpful, the rooms are nice enough, the setting is very quiet and the views are legitimately stunning. This mostly includes those over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, but the views from the back rooms across the mountains are also pretty great (some rooms do not have views, however). Sorry to dwell on the negatives, but there are a few. First, you pay for that quiet location with how isolated the hotel is. There is a shuttle bus (and service buses) to Sorrento, but you can't walk anywhere due to how dangerous the busy, winding mountain road is. There are no supermarkets or other bars or restaurants nearby. Because of the above, the drinks prices in the hotel are extortionate, as they are aware they have a mostly captive audience. €7.50 for 440ml of beer or €12 for an Aperol Spritz is expensive even compared to what you can pay in Sorrento (not the cheapest of places). The food is what really lets this hotel down though, especially if you are vegetarian. We stayed half board, and the breakfasts were extremely disappointing, with no variety in the food offered, and lukewarm eggs and beans (I don't think there was any heat applied to them after they were cooked). No brown bread was available for toast. After a week of the focaccia being vegetarian, they randomly decided to add meat to it one day (it was thin slivers of it and I only just noticed before eating it). Dinner options ranged from great to terrible. There were usually (though not always) three options for a vegetarian starter, but this included soup and tomato pasta. There was always at least one veggie main, though these could be incredibly bland (e.g. a pile of lukewarm roasted vegetables). Portion sizes ranged from OK to verging on the mean spirited. When I was presented with five sticks of asparagus with a few molecules of baked cheese on each, along with a small handful of mixed veg, I thought they might be engaging in some kind of avant-garde nouvelle cuisine experiment. Other courses were similarly small. On one occasion, the head waiter (who seems to fancy himself something of a comedian, your mileage may vary on how successful he is) couldn't tell me if a dish was vegetarian and didn't bother to find out. Therefore, I can only recommend staying here if you plan to eat elsewhere each evening. Every meal I had in Sorrento itself was incredible, and decently sized. It just means getting the bus quite a lot (which usually had room, but some of the seats were broken/had water of mysterious provenance dripping on them). You may be better off staying closer to town, unless the views are too enticing.

The overall experience is great. Perfect location to spend your vacation. Great view from top of the mountain to see the town. Great stuff and classic room experience
