Cheltenham Chase Hotel & Spa

Good central position between the towns of Cheltenham and Gloucester. The main bus route between both towns just yards away. Ample breakfast and courteous staff. Spa facilities available to guests throughout the day and treatments were VFM

There was a delay in room allocation and only received the key at 3.45pm which was disappointing. On the day of departure workmen were in adjoining rooms at 8.30 am with loud power tools which woke us - this was also very disappointing.

The room was good however the spa is basic

Anika, therapist in the Spa was great. She gave me a superb massage and facial. I certainly felt well relaxed afterwards. I definitely recommend!

We booked this weekend away on a deal 2 nights stay with breakfast included both mornings , £35 allowance each person on meal eaten in the restaurant on first night with a bottle of wine on arrival. This was a very good deal & the hotel was lovely , very clean & staff on reception very friendly & welcoming. Our room was clean , tidy with everything you would require for your stay . We were situated on ground floor very close to the carpark which I worried might be noisy but infact it was very peaceful & quiet . The room had a kettle with tea & coffee & a small fridge with a complimentary bottle of water . The restaurant was very nicely decorated with plenty of tables available overlooking a courtyard & fields beyond . The menu had enough options but I did feel it was quite pricey luckily we had the £35 credit each to use . Food service was quite slow which we were informed about before we ordered but we didn't mind as we had our complimentary bottle of wine & gave us time to relax & chat . Atmosphere was quiet but nice & relaxed . Staff were friendly, but drink service was also slow we had to ask a number of times for the beer my partner had ordered before it arrived & then later when I went to pay the excess on the bill they had charged for more than we had drank which was frustrating but we got sorted without a fuss ! When the food arrived it was very nicely presented on plates but portion sizes were very small , for my partner who enjoys large meals this was not filling at all . The desserts were nice although not a great selection. So all in all I would say the £35 meal credit although a nice touch because of the prices & meal sizes wasnt good value for money. The next morning we got up & went for breakfast which was buffet style & you could help yourself to as much as you liked which was lucky as my partner was starving from the night before . Plenty of options from hot plate full english bacon, sausage, hash browns, fried bread , fried eggs , baked beans & grilled tomatoes. Then there were various cereals, pastries & breads , honey & preserves. Fresh fruit & yoghurts, selection of fruit juices , options to order different eggs or porridge. Tea & coffee from self service machines. You just sat at any table that was available, service was polite & friendly & alot quicker than the evening. Highly recommend the breakfast couldn't fault it , service times were very generous too. Later on in the morning we went for a swim & sauna the facilities were nice & clean but sadly the receptionist there was not very welcoming when asked questions on what we had to do requiring towels , lockers etc was not helpful or friendly actually was quite abrupt seemed more interested in chatting with another employee than helping the customers. The location of the hotel was ideal to travel to different places & not far up the road were other places to eat if you required something different. All in all we enjoyed our stay & would recommend just a little word with some of the staff on service & politeness is needed.

We stayed over night due to my daughter dancing at the All England First dance championships. We originally looked around at different ok to compare prices. We usually stay at the premier inn. However on this occasion The Cheltenham and Chase was cheaper. The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was spotless through! Upon arrival of our room it smelt fresh and you could smell the polish that had been used. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay and although on this occasion we didn’t have time to use the facilities, there was plenty of choice should we have had time. We would definitely come back again.

Not a bad word to say.

It was a very tranquil place to stay and easy access with a car to visit the Cotswold villages. The staff were always friendly,kind nd helpful. The breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were fabulous.

The air conditioner was too hot and could not be varied. It made sleeping very uncomfortable .

On arrival the girl on reception was on the phone, she didn't look up or even acknowledge us. After 10 minutes we went to the bar to wait. After a drink we went back to check in, she was talking to a colleague, again no acknowledgement we just had to wait. No apology when she eventually checked us in. She then asked for a card to hold until we left , all fine until I realised £50 had been taken out of my account. No one mentioned this at any point. On checking out they said it would be returned in 48 hours. Disgusting that its taken without warning and then kept for that long Thankfully after that the weekend got much better, room was great, food was lovely. Treatment was very good although could do without the upselling afterwards. The spa was very busy so not really able to enjoy the pool area but every other member of staff was lovely and one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had in a long time
