Nice setting with big rooms however air conditioning doesn't work in every room

Staff were Not helpful and everything seems like your an issue instead of assisting you with simple requests, bar is expensive and breakfast isn't worth the £15 per person for the quality of produce on offer.

"Not great"

6.0

Location

Spa was dirty and in parts smelt like rotten eggs, ac was broken in room and couldn’t change rooms or fix it till the second night, £28 bottle of wine was discussing, missing food off the plate, toiletries missing out the room and when asked nothing was done. breakfast was sub standard for 4 star. 20-30mins waiting at reception as short staffed. Not a 4star hotel. Rats running past the dinning room. Take your own pillows if you don’t like feathers.

"A nice, well appointed hotel, but some staff seemed a bit disorganised."

7.0

Buffet breakfast was good, but disappointing that they had run out of pancakes by the second day. At our first breakfast we had to wait aged for the pancakes and the eggs Benedict which my daughter had ordered. When the eggs arrived they were not served with ham or bacon as they should have been and the yolks were hard not runny. Disappointing especially as there was an extra charge for these. We attended for our golden wedding celebration and my daughter had contacted the hotel in advance requesting welcome flowers etc in our room. This was agreed, but they never materialised. Apart from the above the hotel suited our needs and we would stay again if we are ever in the area. The rooms were spacious, clean and well appointed and there was ample parking and nice grounds.

See above.

"Average staff 3 star at best"

4.0

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I should say we stayed at this hotel a few times pre covid and what a completely different experience. The hotel check in was ok, with a fairly pleasant receptionist who was doing her best being the only person on reception working long hours. Our first room had a hard and completely broken down bed the one side was ok but the was slanted I think the springs had gone. We popped out for a drink and upon return the air-conditioning was on the blink. After two trips to reception the receptionist allocated us another room I had to repack and unpack again which made us slightly late for our dinner in the hotel where the food was very nice. But the service though was really average with people having very long waits for there food and looking pretty unhappy. Weirdly our food came out in ok time. The new room was slightly better but the bathroom needed a refurb and it was pretty tired looking. The cleaning was basic and our bed was left unmade. Breakfast was nice but it looked like there was a slight famin on with empty fresh fruit bowels, empty pastry areas and people waiting for eggs and other hot food it was also very understaffed. There was however, a very efficient slightly older lady who was amazing and hard working but the others didn't seem to be very attentive at all. Would I stay here again no.

"A fantastic stay"

8.0

Our room was fantastic and spotlessly clean - we had booked a family room and were given a large suite with loads of space for all of us. We used the gym and swimming facilities which were also really good. Breakfast was great, the evening bar food was a little disappointing for the price but overall the stay was such good value that we didn't mind!

"Nice hotel, poor spa, needs more staff."

6.0

We stayed the weekend of the Cheltenham cheese roll, as the hotel is walking distance to the event. The hotel itself is modern and the room was spacious and clean. The spa is underwhelming, and the changing rooms are ready for an update. It was difficult to find a locked that worked. As is was a holiday weekend, we expected that staffing would have been increased, but on the contrary, the few staff there were completely overwhelmed. Long lines at the bar, and the restaurant was busy with 2 wait staff for the whole place. We booked early, and were the first in on the Monday, and it was an hour before the food arrived. I told the waiter, if the food wasn't out in 5 minutes, don't bring it and we would leave. When it arrived my burger was virtually inedible! This is a large hotel with what appeared to be lots of elderly people staying who were on coach trips. It seems inconceivable that the management would be unaware of the extra pressure of numerous guests, and the thousands of people who were in town for the cheese rolling event. On the whole, nothing wrong with the hotel, the grounds are nice, and plenty of parking. Don't come for the spa, and prepare for poor service when busy. I'm not complaining about the staff, they did a great job, there just needed to be many more of them, and oh, please find a chef who knows how to cook a burger!
