"Exceptional"

Room spacous and especially the bed very comfortable. Well stocked hospitality tray. Came with a wheelchair and found accessibility very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Came down to breakfast at 8.45am and some items on the breakfast buffet had obviously been there a long time. Small batches and frequent restocking would be better as the hash browns in particular were very hard a d dry. Having said that, the fried eggs were excellent.

"Lovely hotel with great customer service"

Stayed at this lovely hotel overnight on the way to Brixham. Due to a traffic accident which delayed our arrival by over 2 hrs we were delighted when the extremely friendly and helpful receptionist and the Restaurant Manager on duty managed to accommodate us with a meal 1.5 hrs after the time we had booked. All the staff we encountered behaved the same and are a credit to the hotel. The room was spotless and the evening meal was excellent Breakfast was a bit hectic but there was a large coach party staying at the hotel which might explain why. I left my Kindle behind and the staff were extremely helpful when I rang to check it was still there. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family

"Worst hotel I have ever visited!"

Absolutely terrible from start to finish. No welcome at reception on arrival, treated as an inconvenience. First night restaurant booked for 7pm on arrival we're told there was a gas leak so no food. We were told our reservation would be moved to 7pm the second night...on arrival were told we had no reservation by the same member of staff that had rebooked it! We were offered a table at 8.30pm or we could eat in the lounge instead. So we opted for the lounge and waited until 8.30pm for our food to arrive anyway! I only ordered fish and chips and the peas and chips were stone cold and the fish was non existent. Many diners were walking out and refusing to pay. The excuse was they were busy with a coach tour for the cheese rolling. Word spread the chef had walked out and the General manager was supporting the sous chef. Most of the staff are young and seem to be facing the flack whilst management are no where to be seen. And the worst thing.. at check out I wasn't asked how my stay was so I offered my experience suggesting it was the worst hotel stay i had ever experienced they were not interested and not a single apology was offered once, during the entire stay. The Spa facilities are underwhelming, I think a stretch of a title. A steam room you can fit 4 people in, intimately. A filthy jacuzzi and a small pool which children are allowed to use. Go only if you are expecting a comfortable bed, because honestly that's all your money gets you.

The swimming pool was a lovely temperature and a decent size to swim lengths. The changing room was clean with combination lockers. The bedroom was large and the breakfast was served in a well lit room.

Some breakfast items had run out before 9.20am. The showers in the ladies changing room were not hot enough.

"Poor food and service"

Check in was ok told use we had free drinks in mini bar on getting to the room there was no bottle opener and the glasses looked like they had been cleaned with a dirty floor cloth so bad start couldn’t get a restaurant booking until 8.30 as was very busy had to wait until 9.15 for food to arrive fish was over cooked and dry vegetables were not cooked and cold gammon was burnt so were the chips couple sat next to us had been in there since 7.00 at 9.00 they were still waiting for dessert to be brought to the table cheese and biscuit and ice cream that was 3/4 hour after the finished main course very poor service Breakfast didn’t get any better only 1 coffee machine working and long queue no fruit or yogurt no eggs or beans waited 10 minutes in a queue at that point was told eggs will be another 3 minutes the level of service and management is well below what I would expect from a Blackpool bed and breakfast let alone a 4star hotel Asked to speak to the manager was told be would be busy all day so could not see me The only plus was the pool and sauna very nice with friendly staff but the lockers don’t lick the lad on reception said he’s been there 5years and have never worked that is the kind of attitude that gets hotels closed people will find a better place to go

"Good location, shame about levels of Staff"

The location was ideally placed for the Cheese Rolling and trips to local towns and easily accessible from the M5 Staff were really helpful but, at the time of our visit, there were 2 large parties being catered for in the dining room meaning service was very slow. As mentioned, staff were doing their best but the hotel management need to think about staff levels in these situations. Definitely felt as though we were not a priority in the dining room. We ate elsewhere after this experience. The rooms were fine but there were a number of rooms being refurbished at the time of our visit although Housekeeping did a brilliant job with room cleanliness.
