Newport News Marriott at City Center

It was clean but you have no microwave or any way to cook. No breakfast unless you are willing to pay $26 per person or buy individual items, side of bacon 2 strips are $7

No way to heat up food, paying $6 daily to park, long walk from parking deck to Hotel. Charge extra for everything you should get with purchase of your stay.

I came into the hotel today after staying for the first night. Everything seemed well till the point that I met Tatiana the night auditor upon meeting her. She had a very smug attitude when I walked up to an ex or if she had matches, I wanted to light a birthday cake for my son’s birthday. We just got done spending the Fourth of July over at Busch Gardens a pun accident Tatiana, for a lighter she smugly said no we don’t carry lighters here because this is a non-smoking hotel assuming that I was going to go smoke in actuality I just wanted to light the candles for my son‘s birthday cake, which was outside of the hotel in front of gas. She said this is a non-smoking hotel quickly pointing out the sun that said designated smoking areas Are located fountain side of the hotel. I was a little perplexed with her attitude being as she just met me for the first time, but had such a condescending attitude. It was very unwelcoming being as I work in hospitality and have been working in hospitality for the past seven years as a sales manager everything was fine up into that point I can’t stress enough how I tell my employees everything will be going well up into a point where someone gives a snub or snobbish attitude for no reason all of a sudden everything goes downhill and that’s what happened in this case? Tatiana was extremely rude for her snobbish remark assuming that I was going to go and smoke I simply asked for matches to light a single candle for my son‘s birthday that we were celebrating. Is this way is to be expected from the Marriott I would hope not.

Although the building was somewhat dated it was adequate and comfortable, however, the staff were all extremely friendly and professional. Morning breakfast was very good and the staff were excellent including Jarvis and Vivian. The staff in the evening restaurant and bar and the front desk were all exceptional. The room was cleaned daily to my satisfaction. Very happy with my stay.

Clean, comfortable beds, bright and clean space. Nice big bathroom. Convenience of parking vehicle near the hotel.

Amazing stay in a beautiful area. The staff at this hotel makes it what it is…a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Andrew was especially attentive and helpful. There is a beautiful fountain by the hotel and a number of great restaurants. All within walking distance. Definitely a 10 out of 10 experience.

The room had someone else’s food in there, there were holes in the wall, torn bed skirt, hairs in our towels, lamp shade busted like there had been a fight… I was so happy to check out and get to my next hotel room. Marriott knows better for that price to give a subpar and unclean room.

Staff were not accommodating. I made the reservation for my dad, and his name was on the reservation. However, the front desk staff and manager didn't see it. I notified Marriott reservation, booking,,ect. Finally the manger assisted and stated that this would be a " one time" request. My father waited over an hour. Staff unprofessional was rave and issue possibility. The fact that the room was paid in full and they gave us so much hassle is being beyond all of my understanding.

Great hotel!

Traveled with my mother and child for a graduation. I had a decent stay. Waylon provided a speedy and efficient check in process. He gave us a room with a nice view of the fountain! Other than that, the room was clean but basic. No microwaves in the rooms. I dislike that they do not offer anything at check in for Marriott members. I would probably stay here again if I was not with my child.
