Chetola Resort

Room condition for $240 was poor . Lighting in room is poor. Found tape on the wall/ phone did not work/ shower door had soap scum in it. Table had marker on it . Very disappointed as this came highly rated. The property was lovely with the lake

The property itself was very pretty. Location was close to Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are. Our room was on a slant. So it was weird sleeping. Also we found dog food on the floor and a dirty sock left behind.

No greeting when checking in, no thank you when checking out. Stayed there for highly rated restaurant and bar; but it was closed the two nights were there. We had to park in a distant parking lot up a significant number of steps. But when checking out, I watched an employee in an orange jeep take the prime parking spot. I was really unimpressed with the staff overall. Facility was nice, but unappreciative staff earned this rating!

Beautifully maintained landscaping, indoor pool area, and lounge area. Decor was rustic and rooms were very comfortable. Lots of amenities and conveniences. Enjoyed our stay.

Lovely grounds and convenient to Blowing Rock and App State.

The hotel is dated. Some rooms have been renovated others have not. Don’t book rooms on the 2nd floor that look out to the parking area, besides not being renovated the view is unpleasant and offers no privacy unless you keep the curtains shut. The restaurant is bad. Full stop. Over priced and food ranges from mediocre to terrible. Make the 5 min drive to blowing rock for better dining options. Same goes for the buffet breakfast. An important note, I was given the 2nd floor “hillside view” and when I asked to be move to another room, I was told they were completely booked. I checked bookings.com and the resorts website and found that there were rooms available after all. I went down to reception and pointed out that their own website listed available rooms and ask them to refresh their search and magically I was moved to a better room.

Resort amenities were less than expected. The fishing poles were broken, there were limited water accessories, no paddle boards and it was all pretty weathered. The outdoor activities were noisy— construction, lawn mowers, moving heavy equipment and delivery trucks, all made it hard to enjoy the serene outdoor area for multiple days.

Quiet but just enough night life.

Thought the buffet breakfast was excellent. Also enjoyed the wine stand!

Our room was not clean, and we had to let them know it needed more attention. We were told housekeeping was new and in training. My biggest concern was the goose droppings that we dodged walking around the lake really needed to be picked up. This was unsanitary and so much that it was difficult to avoid stepping in it.
