Location and price

- Disappointed , the building and grounds are nothing like the picture on booking.com! - The place is tired , could be better. Ventilation in the bathroom did not work. - The dryer in the room was soo dusty & l couldn’t use it - The shower curtain was very dirty and smelly, but staff were quick to attend to this . - The windows are very dirty . - I stayed 3 days and my room was never cleaned or bins emptied until l asked on the 2nd day!! -No information pamphlet in room on how to make contact with the hotel, as reception is not always manned . -Breakfast could be better. -WI-FI the worst l have experienced!!!! I was there for work and this made it very difficult!!

The hotel itself looks really nice, the room was clean enough for me. It had everything needed, kettle, coffee, tea, biscuits, iron, hairdryer etc. Only saw the manager, who was lovely, really friendly, he there all night serving at the bar plus he did the breakfast the next day, poor guy must have been knackered but still had a smile for everyone. The breakfast was really nice and had everything you could ask for.

I dont recommend the Heineken, £6 and it was disgusting, my nephew had the other lager and said his was ok

The room and bed were comfortable enough but there were no electric power outlets or USB ports near the bed so charging of devices and powering laptop were not convenient. The bathroom was ok but shower head angle could not be adjusted so had to use it as a hand held to shower properly.

On arrival I was promptly greeted with a demand to pre-authorise my credit card as security against any damage I may cause during my stay. I was shocked and insulted. Rather than being made to feel welcome I was made to feel like some low life scum who was going to damage their frankly average hotel. I have never been asked for this anywhere else and it is not mentioned in the booking information. In hindsight, I should have told them to **** ***. The breakfast was distinctly average comprising the cheapest of ingredients. The scrambled egg was the worst I have had anywhere. I am not convinced they were made with real eggs. It is also worth noting there is no lift and my top floor room was up 6 flights of stairs - not good for someone like me with a heart condition or someone with a disability. Again this is not mentioned in the booking info. I will definitely not be staying here again.

Dungeon like room. Beds had springs visible. Room smelled of greasy food. No lift so had to carry bags up 4 flights. They did offer another room but would not refund the second room as it was 'non refundable'!! I thought that referred to being cancelled, not for being sub standard. Sullen unhelpful staff. Prawn crackers up the stairs.

No lift, bed quilt didnt fit, only one pillow
