Catalonia Playa Maroma – All Inclusive

Hello, I want to give a really good note to this resort. Being a regular client of club med and been to dreams resorts ect I think I can give an honest review. I’m used to certain standards.. Catalonia playa maroma was exquisite and a very nice surprise. From arrival to departure we were very pleased. Our favourite aspects are the hotel grounds , it’s very lush in nature with animals ect.’the atmosphere is very enjoyable and relaxing. Loved the beach hammock the beds around the pool. The spa music along the path in the resort is so relaxing. The staff are very helpful and kind. Overall the food is very good. I love Mexican food and I was very happy with the selection. Lots of fresh fruits ect .. Restaurant à la carte Italian was very good .. burrata.. ect beautiful decor Mexican was so good .. mole enchiladas Cochinita pibil ect Spicy margaritas..!! The steakhouse was good Picanha, beef carpaccio.. 👌🏽👌🏽 The cocktails especially at the lobby where very well done. Great sélections. The resort it self is beautiful. Nice pizzeria , tacos restaurant and crêperie around the pool. The lobby is a Little outdated could use a refresh but still enjoyable. The room ( premium) was very clean and the bed comfortable. Some refresh and renovations could be done but it is nice and modern.. we loved the tennis and pickeball fields. The beach is beautiful!! Powder white sand Nice to walk on the left side for hours HOWEVER sargasse are ruining the experience but this is Mother Nature. We didn’t swim in the ocean much unfortunately. This is nobody’s fault and they clean it day and night !!!! Lots of efforts being made to clean the beach. Pool Is beautiful Animation is pretty good. Staff are very friendly. Love the coffee shop such a beautiful place to get a good specially coffee. The lush grounds are absolutely amazing!!! It’s a small resort very intimate but big enough that it doesn’t feel crowded. Very beautiful resort and I highly recommend it. I would and probably go again which is rare for us.. I loved the bar service with servers around the pool and beach which is rare for a 4 stars resort 🎉🎉🎉🍸 The excursion desk (dive shop) around the pool offers amazing tours. We tried the 35$ snorkeling was worth every penny. Thanks to Ilia for an amazing experience. We encountered turtles , stingray, eels and many beautiful 🐟 creatures!! Leaves at 12:30 back at 14:30 10/10 It’s not a 5 stars but it is a very comfortable, fun and beautiful resort!! It was everything to please everyone!!

The resort is fantastic. Alejandra, Rolando, Enrique, and Giovanny from the Bars do a great job as well as Maria in the omelette station in the breakfast and Veronica from the Japanese restaurant. On top of that Laura the housekeeper is not just a hardworking person but she always delivers a great customer service.

Struttura molto bella, molti servizi, ben tenuta e pulita. Cibo buono e molta scelta. Spiaggia ben tenuta e vicina a tutti i servizi (bar, bagno,..)

Al arrivo al resort abbiamo avuto problemi con la carta di credito, la persona alla reception che ci ha accolto non è stata per nulla d’aiuto e poco cortese. Il resto del personale gentile e disponibile.

We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at the resort. The rooms were lovely. Restaurants were all great both food and service. The only blip was the Crepe place was overwhelmed and could use more staff. Pool was wonderful as was staff member Matazulen. Entertainment was excellent! Enough to keep busy but not overly pushy about joining in. Kudos to Karla - she made our trip more enjoyable with her outgoing nature! Several of the entertainment staff would stop by and chat which was wonderful to get to know about their careers and experiences. Elina from Greece who cried because she was going home. Nicole from Italy who was a good sport trying hot peppers even though that didn’t work out for her. Sully the new guy from Paris - always a smile and a hello. I would definitely recommend this resort!

If you are looking for a spectacular beach with nothing but flat white sand and beautiful turquoise water, natural shade, lots of sun that's not crowded then this is the beach for you. The resort is not a luxury resort but it is clean and comfortable with delicious a la carts. I would recommend upgrading your stay to Privileged as it gives you access to BLoved restaurant with a beautiful view overlooking the beach and great a la cart meals 3 times a day. This provides a nice break from the buffet. The service at the resort was overall very good. We found the a la cart staff very friendly and our maid Rocio Luna was absolutely fantastic. The one show at night that we did see was very well done with beautiful costumes. The natural landscape and wildlife at this resort added to our stay but beware, the coaties are very smart and will do almost anything to get your food including unzipping bags. Cons: Getting Peso broken down was extremely difficult. Not much going on in the lobby in the evenings while waiting for the shows Pool was crowded Food trucks are gone as well as the MooLoo bar Overall I would definitely recommend this resort if you are a beach person. If you like luxury and large pools then this may not the resort for you. But if you are looking for solid quality, clean and comfortable, delicious food and a spectacular beach then this is definitely a resort to check out.

Las habitaciones, porque están viejas con muebles viejos y los restaurantes, cierran muy temprano.

We were approached by a member of the serving staff at breakfast asking if we would like to try a new menu item that they were planning. It was a German Pancake and was delivered along with the Breakfast Buffet chef Gabriela. The pancake was absolutely delicious and the presentation amazing!!

The staff here are wonderful people! So full of smiles and so keen to help if required. The lobby as you arrive is stunning. Coming from Europe this is one of the most exciting places to go, right in the dense jungle you are surrounded by and immersed with nature. The food in the buffet was fabulous great selection, I like that you are seated so no bum fights! We organised a few trips with them which were way cheaper than through our agent. The beach is stunning. Mixture of nationalities including Russian Canadian French . The spa was wonderful and the shops plentiful if not a little expensive. There is a boutique type shop I bought a throw over there v good quality, beautiful Mexican souvenir shop, a mini mart and coffee shop. Pools are great. Downside…..sun lounger joggers saving their loungers and not turning up until later - it’s strictly forbidden to save them but the staff do not police it. The Mexican resto was ok but not great . Still have yet to try the other restos and looking forward to it. Room - huge but very poorly unkept damaged cabinets, broken basin I did report to the reception but he couldn’t have cared less. Did offer to move us but at that point we were settled.

This hotel actually delivered on its promises. The room was clean, the beach great despite heavy sargasm and the staff was very friendly and eager to please, except for a couple of grumpy bar staff at the beach. Best parts: The entertainment team. Great production and enthusiasm. Worth attending every day. Professional, high level quality. The cleaning crew. Impeccable service. The surprising variety and quality at the buffet The wild life. Beautiful animals. Café Aromes. Great coffee and the best staff. Could be improved: The B loved menu had nice looking dishes but the food was sometimes bland or cold but still good service and location. Pizza at the pizzeria was appalling. Go the buffet instead for your pizza fix. Transportation to and from the airport can be long. Factor that in your travel times. Overall, a great hotel if you are looking for a quiet place with good service. Mostly mature clientele and some families with a real Mexican vibe.
