Hanalei Colony Resort

Amazing location and relaxed vibe. The properties and grounds are very quiet which is just what we wanted. Beach chairs, umbrellas etc. were supplied in the apartment by default which was super helpful.

The properties are very dated and show the signs of that age (wear and tear, salt water damage etc.).

Of course the location, atmosphere and the rooms were wonderful, clean, quiet, peaceful. But what set this resort apart was the staff. Before I even arrived I was emailing Jen about my concerns of traveling with my autistic daughter. She eased my worries and put us in an amazing beach front room. My daughter did have an autistic meltdown while we were there, a big one, and the manager and front desk staff, cleaning staff and handymen/grounds keepers were so supportive, understanding and kind. In my experience, not every hotel/resort manager is supportive and can even make things worse. Hanalei Colony Resort was the total opposite. Eventually every meltdown ends, and we go on with our day, but what stuck with me was the kindness we were shown over and over again. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Spectacular location. This place is not for everyone. It's miles from restaurants, shopping, television. But what it does have, it has in spades. It's on the ocean, close to some of the worlds finest beaches. Beauty abounds. It has wifi, a pool, laundry and a staff that cares. It also has a shuttle that can get you to restaurants and shopping. Guests return for generations. Not my first time.

Heerlijk bed, fijn dat er ook een keuken in het appartement zat. Grote ruimte die heel gezellig was ingericht en fijn terras. Je loopt vanuit de kamer ook zo naar het strand. Een echte aanrader: de koffiebar op het terrein: heerlijke koffietjes en bagels. Het restaurant vonden wij wat minder.

De badkamer was wat ouderwets met een klein douche-je dat ook nog eens niet erg warm werd. Verder wordt er maar 1x in de 3 dagen wat gedaan door housekeeping.

Location was spectacular, especially for nature lovers, it was just stunning. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Loved the shuttle into Hanalei Bay...while it doesn't look far on the map, it's an extremely winding road and very dark at night. The new pool area was also nicely done and a great place to swim, chill, and grill.

Parts of the resort (kitchens, restaurant) could use a refresh. The property doesn't have air conditioning, which wasn't needed for the heat but would have helped with the humidity. The restaurant is currently BYOB, not necessarily a bad thing, but be sure to stock up in Hanalei before getting to the resort.

We loved the location and the property overall. Steps from the beach, morning sun rises, evening stargazing. The actual rooms could use a lot of maintenance and upgrades. But we really enjoyed our stay.

This is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. Friendly staff, well equipped, quiet, peaceful… a true paradise.
