Craiglynne Hotel

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel. We were a little disappointed with our given room as we were up in the attic. Three years ago when we stayed here on the same deal we were allocated a front facing room which was very comfortable. However, the room was adequate for us and comfortable enough. We did have a problem with the shower control as it was loose but the spray was good. On our second night and last morning we had no hot water whatsoever so boiled the kettle to have a wash. If we had been staying longer, we would have reported this to reception straight away but didn't want any disruption at the time. The food was excellent and nicely presented. There were plenty of chairs in the public lounge area. All the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. We enjoyed our stay despite the few issues we had.

The hotel is in a excellent location for touring the Highlands; we were on a six day tour with Newmarket Holidays. We had a lovely welcome and were allocated a cosy, quiet, recently refurbished, spotlessly clean room with a reasonably sized en suite. There were a couple of teething problems which were quickly sorted out. We found the hotel staff very helpful and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble at breakfast, poached eggs & porridge cooked to order in addition to the ample buffet. At dinner there was a choice of 3 or 4 items for starters, mains and desserts, we all found something we liked and service was slick. As a three star hotel we weren't expecting any 'amenities'. However the lounge sand bar were very comfortable and the garden would have been inviting in warmer weather. There was entertainment on two evenings and a Scottish Piper visited us during dinner one evening. Seems he played at Madonna's wedding. Would we return to The Craiglynne Hotel - Yes we would.

When we booked to stay in this dog friendly hotel. The communicstion seemed good. The hotel contacted us directly to remind us of check in times and to bring our itison paperwork to hand over at check in When we checked in I noticed a pre printed sheet of paper stating the kitchen was closed for refurbishment purposes. I alerted the receptionist that the hotel had done themselves proud by communicating prior and wondered why they failed to alert us of this. The hotel had just reopened having been closed for winter so i wonder why this refurb wouldnt have taken place then. The room was clean and spacious but cold despite the additional stand alone heater. The bar prices very very reasonable. The breakfast was served promptly by a very friendly Gentleman. I pointed out that my cutlery was dirty and a clean set was brought over quickly. The breakfast produce was ok. We were informed the dog could stay in our room or theyd find somewhere for us to sit with her but we would be required to leave the hotel from the back door and re enter the reception to be taken to a place for us.... doesnt scream out DOG FRIENDLY TO US.... good job she is well behaved and likes the car because she spent both mornings in there. Our 1st morning the chef seasoned the sausages and they were lovely, 2nd day not so nicely done. The POWDERED SCRAMBLED EGG was just awful, most if not all plates were being returned with the egg untouched. We enjoyed Grantown as a place to visit and if in the area we would opt to stay in the Garth Hotel as we enjoyed lovely food, drinks, service and ambience. Unfortunately we wouldnt return to the Craiglynne Hotel.

I read some really rough reviews on this hotel, and I cannot imagine why they were written. The staff was wonderful and went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of even though there were 3 TOUR BUSES there. Yes, we had to wait a bit because they were stretched pretty thin. The front desk clerk was off fixing a TV for a bit but was very kind when he came back. The wait was maybe 5 minutes. The dining room staff was doing their very best (maybe 5 of them) to handle everyone as quickly and kindly as possible. The room was lovely, the bed was comfy, and the grounds were very pretty. Those whining about the walk may not understand that the property was originally 3 buildings that had been joined, so yes, you needed to walk through the dining room to get to the 3rd building. For my husband and I, it was a nice end to a miserable day of Storm Amy.

Good location, arran on reception was very cheerful,made welcome, and we had a laugh with him,room was OK, needed bit of a clean ,towel rail falling apart ,tv wasn't working properly kept buffering..,noticed cups ontop of radiators in the hallways wen we arrived sat afternoon still their and more on the Sunday, door handle on bedroom was very loose .. ladies toilets in the public bar was absolutely disgusting The smell of sewage was worse than wen we walked in the hotel ,their were beasts, not flies or ants but whatever they were they were everywhere in and around the toilet ,sink,floor and walls absolutely horrendous smell which I did mention to Arran,don't think he believed me ....The barman Brett was very chatty ,cheerful ,had a laugh...However would we stay again ?NO..Breakfast was ok ....

Shower head falling apart. Noisy when other guests passed the door Did not get parked on the property - short walk up the road

Good location of hotel. Guy at check in was very friendly and helpful. Free parking outside the hotel. Good size bedroom and WiFi was good. Check out at 11 instead of the usual 10. Reasonably priced.

TV was to small in the room. No water pressure from shower. Old building so very creaky. Mattresses not the best.
