Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu

We've been staying at the Shangri_La in Mactan for years although not in the recent years! It was so nice to note that they have maintained the facilities. But the service is truly top-notch. All the employees genuinely seem eager and willing to provide good service. The beach is clean and it's wonderful that it's easy to order shakes and drinks right at the beach. Breakfast had an extensive spread and had a good variety. Always delicious! ... We also enjoyed our dinners at the Chinese Restaurant. I would particularly like to commend the staff at the Jetski Shop. My son was a newbie and fell off while he was trying to ride the jetski. I appreciated that 2 jetskis immediately rescued them from the water. they were in the water not more than a couple of minutes. And, upon returning, they were examined by a nurse from the hotel clinic. I, likewise, appreciated that before they made my son finish off our alloted rental time, one of the staffers took time to give instructions to my son and even ride out with him. In various aspects, you can see and appreciate the level of service the ShangriLa gives that truly makes it a notch above the rest. Just a couple of suggestions: Lunch options are quite limited bec it's only the Buko Bar that is open. It's so hot at lunchtime! ... I wish you could add more electric fans at the Buko Bar or have a small airconditioned cafe open. I had a problem with the charging of my account. It took more than a week to clear the preliminary deposit charge made on my credit card. Most hotels these days, swipe your card for a security deposit, then deduct that security deposit from your account and only bill you the balance. OR, they charge you the full amount of your account then cancel the charge made as the security deposit. That didn't happen with my account. I was charged the full amount of my bill and it took more than a week to clear the security deposit. This only happened because I requested that a supervisor or higher manager be pulled into handling my case. Fortunately, its all water under the bridge but I wish the General Manager would look into the systems of the billing/accounting department. It's not enough to tell the guest prior, your security deposit will only be cleared 2 weeks after you check-out. Why? In this day and age? I believe that one portion of the whole organization not functioning well should NOT pull down a beautiful resort with an abundance of people who provide fantastic service! I would totally continue to go to the Mactan ShangriLa its a quick luxurious getaway just perfect for a quick R&R recharge !

The rooms are trash. The facilities are great but the interior is in need of great repair! The shower hardly drains, the carpet is filthy, and the furniture is very outdated and worn. For the price point, it’s not worth it.
