"Disappointing, not living up to the image they project"

4.0

The experience is really mixed and things are either good or bad, there is no in between. We stayed for 3 nights and arrived by car. You have valet service but the person at the entrance was rude until we told him we had a reservation. After checkin we were brought to a cleansing ritual, without explanation or anything. The walk through the place the first time is magical but the novelty wears of and walking over the round planks every time just becomes annoying. We had a room without light, that required an upgrade. Thankfully my partner had a lighter for the candles as the matches didn't work. It was cold during our stay and nobody cared. We had to ask for extra blankets and had a small thin one delivered. It was 12 degrees at night. The staff was careless. More concerned with themselves than people. The exception was one of the receptionists who was friendly. But most staff felt superficial and didn't care much really. Prices are high for rooms and food and while the views are great, the price isnt worth it. Conch horn sounding until 11 at night and music too as if you had a speaker in the room. And by latent 8 incense would be bunt throughout the day. You smell a burning scent until night. No shower. A bathtub not deep enough for the water to cover your body, and Windows everywhere for everybody to see everything. Just simple curtains would do a lot. Overall the stay was disappointing. Architecture is beautiful but that isnt enough for a high price hotel. Ecofriendly doesn't have to mean no comfort and it was just a lot of that. We left looking forward to our next hotel with a warm bed and a hot shower...

"Please read before booking if you want to enjoy Tulum"

2.0

I have never left a review in my life even when I have had a bad experience but I really don’t want anyone’s stay in Tulum to be ruined because they choose to stay at Azulik hotel. It’s so uncomfortable it’s incomprehensible , there is no service, any requests are met with a no, even if you want to upgrade your room because it’s so dark during the day and the night that you can’t find your medication, your clothes, forget trying to do your make up or getting dressed, there are no comforts in the room, no ammenities at all. A bed, a bath tub , no hot water in the basin. Either We had a mid of the range room. Didn’t sleep in 4 night because we heard everything that happened in the room above us, water trickled from their bath into our room, and every time they walked we heard it. I could not even get a glass to pour a drink. The bracelets they give you to recognise you as a guest are reused, it’s gross The keys are re used and dirty If you lost that bracelet the dirty re used one you had to pay 20 US dollars If you need a towel to go on a tour it’s a problem, you have to go to the beach club to get one, You can’t get any help from anyone except a host, who has clearly no training and doesn’t advice you how long you can have a table for at a restaurant , and will organise a car for you to get somewhere but when you ask how much it’s she tells you to ask the driver, and leaves you on read and if she doesn’t want to continue a conversation Your concierge is the only way to get or organise things there is no front desk. And they are really of no help Young people out of their depth and felt like they were working on commission I recommend going there to look at the architecture and the sunset bar I also recommend the beach club , the art gallery is also fabulous , the architecture of the hotel is a mastery and worth going to I give this hotel a 1 at most in terms of service and comfort and a 10 to spend 3 hours going to the art gallery the beach club and watching the sunset Couldn’t get out of there fast enough , so happy to have left.

"A Magical Place That Needs Better Follow-Through"

8.0

Azulik is visually stunning. The property is unlike anything we’ve ever experienced and photos truly do not do it justice. From the architecture to the setting, it feels otherworldly and special. If you’re looking for a quiet, serene stay, this place delivers. The indoor and outdoor tubs were a standout. They were beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and genuinely added to the sense of relaxation. Using them felt like part of the experience, not an afterthought. That said, there are some real gaps between the vision and the execution. Azulik promotes a digital detox, but the restaurants rely entirely on QR code menus. You’re required to bring your phone, which pulls you right out of the experience. I asked for a printed menu and was told none were available. That felt misaligned with the brand. Navigation around the property could be much better. The grounds are expansive and beautiful, but there are very few directional signs. We often found ourselves wandering or second guessing where things were. The beach setup was another surprise. There were no umbrellas, which makes it tough if you’re trying to avoid direct sun. The cabanas were not always available, and even when you did get one, sunlight still came through the roof. For anyone sun-sensitive, that’s something to consider. Our room had a serious safety concern. The door lock for room 10 requires a key to lock the door or even keep it closed, even from the inside. I had to lock my wife in when I stepped out briefly while she napped. If she needed to leave the room, she wouldn’t have been able to. That should be addressed immediately, just do what you did with the handle for room 12. The rooftop bar didn’t have enough tables or seating, especially during peak times. Service was inconsistent. On a few occasions, staff told us tipping could not be added to a credit card, which simply isn’t true. Another time, we were seated for drinks and hookah, waited over 15 minutes with no one checking on us, and eventually left without a single acknowledgment. On the positive side, Stacy, our concierge, was outstanding. She was responsive, thoughtful, and proactive with recommendations and reservations. She genuinely elevated our stay and was one of the highlights of the experience. The spa was excellent. The massage experience from start to finish was relaxing and well done. The hotel and restaurants felt quite empty during our stay. We personally enjoyed the calm, but if you’re looking for a lively, social atmosphere, this is not that kind of resort. Food and drinks on property are expensive, more than you might expect, but the quality is strong and felt worth it to us. There are also several great, more affordable local spots within walking distance. Highly recommend going across the street to La Milpa. Fantastic outdoor bar, large menu, great energy. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that would be amazing to have on the property. Try the grasshoppers, they’re delicious. One last note: the conch shell gets blown a lot. Some people may love it, others may find it disruptive. It depends on your tolerance for ambient noise. Overall, Azulik is a breathtaking and memorable place with incredible potential. With better attention to guest flow, safety, and service consistency, it could truly match the magic of its setting. One very specific call out is that the hotel is not recommend for anyone with any type of mobility issues. There are no elevators, the walkways are very uneven and there are a lot of stairs.

"Over Priced Lunch. Super Beautiful Scenery. End of List."

2.0

Lunch for 2 was $160+ US dollars. We did not have any alcohol. The shrimp Agua Chili was bad and we got super sick. We didn’t even eat most of our food and they didn’t ask if it was ok or check in. It feels like no one cared if we liked the food or not. Our server was nice but seemed dead inside. This place feels like it’s for influencers and the staff hates it. There’s a really beautiful location off the beach, Azulik Uh May. Go there in stead. It’s a better museum experience and the food was incredible and the service was spectacular!!! It was pricey but so so special and worth it. This lunch almost ruined that experience. This is a skip but don’t pass on Azulik Uh May. It’s a bit of a drive but totally worth it!

We were so nervous after reading the reviews on Booking.com, but it was a huge positive surprise. Staff went above and beyond. Our villa was ultra comfortable and close to the beach. Food is good but kind of overpriced.

Restaurant staff does not speak English well.

Overpriced for amount of amenities and room, seems a little overhyped
