Kaanapali Ocean Inn

Ocean Inn building is neglected to say the least. Mold in bathroom. Broken fixtures. Bug infestation. AC/Fan non functioning. Location and grounds are good. Great beach.

I didnt like that there was water drops on the ceiling of the bathroom

Staff is wonderful, great location and beach. KOI units were worn out, needs upgrade.

Way overpriced for the very basic room with extra hidden parking fees. There’s no other place to park so why isn’t it built into the price? I won’t be back

The grounds around the property were lovely, as was the beach. The fitness center was serviceable, and we used it several times. The zumba class was a lot of fun, and I'm glad i took it! Alton is a hoot! Unfortunately, the Ocean Inn was very disappointing. It is a very old building, which i have no problem with, as long as it is clean. However, as we walked up the stairs to our room, the hallways smelled musty, and there were mold spots on the ceiling from water damage (these were painted over while we were there, hopefully with mold- killing paint). In our room, it was obvious that this part of the property had been neglected. There were coffee stains dribbling down the door. Inside, I found a receipt that wasn't ours under the bed. When I took a shower the first time, there was a large black ball of hair on the wall of the shower (were blonde).The light fixtures have years of dust on them, both in the shower/toilet room as well as looking up into the lighting over the sink.There were tiny ants on the entertainment center, on the counter(looked like coming through the outlet) by the Keurig, and in the vanity sink outside the bathroom. I mentioned these to the front desk, and the woman working there acted like it wasn't a big deal. They said they sprayed, but we still saw them by the coffee maker. I could look up from the shower through the crack in the ceiling and see the ductwork. This building needs to be torn down or completely renovated.

We stayed one night because of a change in our plans. The place needs an update. It wasn’t bad for what we needed and the staff was really nice and helpful.

The rooms were OLD. Carpet was from the 1970s and filthy. Freyed terrible where the ends met the tile. Tile was old, cupboards and countertops were ancient, and furnishings had were not cleaned well. The other couple who came went to their room and there was not bed and the room was under renovation. You would think they would know this when checking someone in. We had no hot water for showers after letting it run for 10 minutes. Very dissatisfied for the rooms we had and the price we paid!

The only good part about this room was we paid extra to have an ocean front room. The rooms were very old and the Luau could be heard every night very loud over your tv in your room. We were several rooms down and the music was so loud every night. At the end the resort put a hold on our debt card for the room amount and then also charged us the amount for the room. So we were charged twice and told the first amount would be back in 15 business days. The beauty of Maui is what will bring us back not this resort.

*Disgusting stained carpet *smelly old curtains *moldy bathroom *no outlets *peeling paint on walls *We selected KOI for our 1st & last night of a 9 night trip. (With 7 nights at Westin timeshare in the middle) WHAT A MISTAKE!! KOI falls beneath being “a basic accommodation”. This place is nasty with disgustingly dirty old smelly carpet full of gross stains. The walls are also stained, the bathroom is old & moldy. There aren’t any outlets in the room (except 1 behind the bed & one in the bathroom). We honestly thought it’s such a short stay “ it can’t be that bad” but believe me it’s more than bad, it’s downright AWFUL. We asked to move to Royal Lahaina Tower for the last night & it was not possible. The woman at the front desk said KOI is the oldest property on Kaanapali beach & hasn’t been updated in 30 years, lol….We ended up canceling & booking our last night elsewhere.

Filthy, dirty, carpets worn, hidden charges and then after booking with Alaska airline, the tried to get us to pay another $160 to pay for the room we booked in the first place. Bed was broken (box spring) room next to luau so all we heard was music and the entire luau.
