Holiday Inn Express Shrewsbury by IHG

The staff were excellent and very friendly. The room was a good size. The breakfast had a good variety to choose from.

The bar/dining area was very small. There was a mouldy smell in the hallway.

The price which included breakfast.

Obviously you get what you pay for. Working in hospitality myself, as a courtesy to the cleaning staff, I always strip the bed and do a bit of a tidy up before checking out. I think you will know what’s coming… Having stripped the bed, I was horrified to find multiple stains on the mattress cover. There was what looked like a blood stain the size of a melon and a urine stain the size of a beach ball amongst other smaller stains. See photos. They actually don’t do justice to the horror story of what I found. Sometimes there can be one member of staff who is lacking but in this instance, I feel Holiday Inn have been disappointing in their response. They did apologise - but that was all. It seems The Holiday Inn’s standards of customer care have very much slipped along with the basic standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

The staff were polite and helpful, my evening meal was nice and hot and quick to the table.

The room needs to be updated. USB plugs next to the bed both were broken. The shower drain was poor to take the water away and the shower head was to big for the stand. The TV was small and would not always turn on. There was a small fridge plonked on the floor. I was next to the loading bay, even with the window closed, at 5am you can here everything from the delivery wagons.

Easy parking

Staff were friendly, bed was comfortable and the breakfast was spot on!

Only thing that i would change would be to make the music in the eating area quieter.

Good location. Checking in was good. Free parking on site. Room clean and comfortable. Kettle,tea,coffee,milk and sugar in room. Bathroom clean. Staff friendly. Breakfast ok
