"Best place to visit EVER"

All I can say is this place is nothing short of amazing. The service is above and Beyond, it’s clean and gorgeous. Our waiter Emanuel at the beach was top notch. We couldn’t ask for someone better. I hope he is here next year.

"Birthday holidays"

Our stay at Excellence playa Mujeres was mervellous. The staff of the resort is the best. Excellent food quality, variety, the same for the drinks. Activities are nice, the location is beautiful. I recommand this ressort

"Highly recommended"

Just returned from another fabulous holiday at EPM. We have visited this hotel many times before but keep returning because it never disappoints. It has all the ingredients for a successful holiday - lovely beach, great pools, good food, fun entertainment but above all the fantastic service from the staff who work tirelessly and for whom nothing is too much trouble. I would particularly mention the Guest Services Manager, Jacqueline Zacarias, who ensures that your holiday is perfect from first to last.

"The Best of the Best!!"

We have traveled to no fewer than 50 all inclusive resorts and this one is right at the top! From arrival to our departure everythin was wonderful, especially the employees. Our arival and departure bellman, Doroteo, allowed us to see the quality of the resort management, he was so friendly. The Club level staff on the beach and pool went above an beyond, Rogelio, Jesus, Edgar and especially trainee, Aldo couldn't have been any better with their service. I must recognize Gina at the French restaurant, also Antonio and Julian at the Mexican restaurant. There are so many other from hosekeeping to the balance of the empoyees I need to give a BIG Thank you for a wonderful holiday. Gary

"Visit 15 and Excellence is Still Wonderful"

We visited Excellence Playa Mujeres in November. This was our 15th visit to EPM and our 27th to an Excellence Resort. We are big fans of EPM because of the people who work there. We have come to think of them as family. We were so happy to see Jacqueline, the Guest Services Manager, when we arrived. She always makes our visits so special. She and her concierge staff go out of their way to take excellent care of all their guests. We were in Building 8 overlooking the ocean and EC pool. This was not one of the rooms that had been refurbished but it was in good condition. Housekeeping does a wonderful job of maintaining the rooms and cleaning daily. We spend our days at the beach and love the beach beds they have. You do have to get up early to get one, but we love watching the sunrise at the beach. They are comfortable and keep the sun off when needed. Service was excellent at the beach all week. Special thank you to David, Yeuldiel and Sulley for making our days at the beach so special and to Yessi for keeping the drinks flowing. We went to the spa for hydrotherapy and massage. The facilities are lovely and relaxing. Thank you to Ignacia and Florie for a wonderful experience. I suggest going to the spa when you arrive to make your appointments if there is specific timing you are looking for as it fills up quickly. When we were there, they wanted us to pay with a credit card at the spa even though we had put a deposit for incidentals when we checked in. We did not have a card with us and eventually they said they would charge it to our room. Since they take a $600 deposit, I don’t understand why we would need to pay on top of that at the spa. We are not really show people, but we did enjoy the Legends show and we always enjoy Claudia Trevino’s show. We like when the violin player or saxophone player are in the martini bar or out on the plaza. We didn’t have any bad meals although it was disappointing to see the way the menus have been limited from prior trips and some of the meals we look forward to are no longer on the menu. I’m not a fan of standardizing the menus between all their resorts. It makes each location less unique. With that said, we enjoyed meals at Spice, Oregano, Agave, Lobster House, Basmati and Chez Isabelle. Our favorites were Basmati and Chez Isabelle. Thank you to Sergio at Basmati for choosing dishes for us and creating a lovely dining experience. Pedro at Chez Isabelle made our evening very special. I would love to see the restaurants go back to paper menus. We look forward to our next visit.

"Excellence Playa Mujeres Fantastico"

We had the most amazing time!! The people who work for Excellence are top-notch! We must mention Jesus at the Excellence Club Beach. He made our day and was so attentive taking care of all our needs. Floricel kept a cold drink in our hand the entire time we were at the beach and he was so fun! Josue taught us some Spanish sign language and cleared a spot for us at the beach when needed. He worked so hard clearing towels and making the beach space look great. Arturo at the omelette station at The Kitchen Table buffet was so smiley and made the BEST breakfast. And Josue at the Building 9 Excellence Club pool was so kind and a joy to visit with. Our room was great. The grounds were perfect. We will definitely be back!!!

"Wait Staff - Above and Beyond"

My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and have had amazing service from every place we have been to and anything we wanted/needed was brought to us. Some of the people that made our Wednesday at the resort so enjoyable were in the following locations. These people we watched work so tirelessly at their job and be attentive to everyone in their area. Lucy - Poolside Kevin - The Grill Jorge - Kitchen Table Jorge was initially our waiter for breakfast and another guy took over, we loved having Jorge each morning.

"EPM in early March"

We have been coming back every year to EPM since 2019 and what brings us back is just the welcoming atmosphere and the excellent service and friendliness of the resort staff. Early March is the right time to go since the weather ranges between 75-85 with little humidity and the sargassum is not an issue. Location: EPM has the benefit of a wide footprint so there are plenty of room on the beach and off-the beach. You never really feel crowded in unlike other resorts. This particular week, the resort was at 50-60% occupancy most likely due to media coverage of the violence in Puerto Vallarta. Cleanliness: rooms are cleaned daily, resort property (walkways, buildings, pools, beach areas) and all landscape are well maintained. Rooms: The negative is the poor lighting and small mirrors in the bathroom. We heard that they were updating them but the building we were in is not scheduled for an update till July. The other negative was our bed and pillows were very firm which is why I rated sleep quality as average. However, the rooms was spacious and we had the benefit of a swim up suite so the balcony was larger due to the inclusion of a deck with a large sun bed. The mini bar had good size liquor brands, beers, water bottles and snacks. A/C worked well keeping the room at 70 deg F. Restaurants: Plenty to choose from although some are not open at particular nights. We are not foodies but we liked The Grill for their choices of steaks, Basmati for Indian Cuisine, Magna (Excellence Club) for overall quality. Our lunch favorites were Lobster House and Oregano. Breakfast was a toss up between Kitchen Table and Lobster House. Favorite bar was the Martini Bar for pre and post dinner hangout. Evening entertainment was ok usually with a live band or performer, followed by a show although some are getting dated with Burlesque show, and Michael Jackson/Freddie Mercury Legends show. We did see some new shows added including a dance battle between classic dancers vs break dancers, and a DJ show with a violinist and trumpet players, but that one was a big mess. If we there was one thing we would like to see EPM implement is an "enforced quiet section" at the beach where couples like us can enjoy a book or relax to the sound of waves and ocean breezes, can be segregated from the large groups of loud friends or chatty couples who just ramble on with their stories all day long. People should be considerate but for some reason, spatial awareness is lacking.

"Loyalty is a one way street"

We have stayed at Excellence properties for our last several vacations so I would guess you could say we are loyal customers. The Excellence properties are beautiful, well-kept and the staff is friendly and hard working. We had an issue with our trip this past February that I would like to share. No fault of Excellence but due to weather issues our flight to Cancun was cancelled not once but twice. It forced us to leave one day late for our vacation. As soon as our flight was cancelled we contacted the hotel to let them know. Upon arrival I enquired if the hotel could extend our stay an extra day to make up for the day we lost. They did not offer a refund for the day we lost (which is not what I even asked for or expected). They said they would have to charge us $1050 if we wanted to stay an extra day. Important to note that the hotel was not nearly full the day we lost or the extra day we were asking for. After discussing this with two different desk people and not wanting to get upset during my stay I decided to wait until I arrived home to write the corporate office to see if they would offer a resolution. I wrote to explain the situation upon my return home. I was given an inquiry ticket number with a statement that I would be contacted within two week. They have never reached out to address this issue. I am not blaming Excellence for the weather and what it caused. I guess I was expecting a reciprocal loyalty that I have shown toward them. Their position would be totally understandable if there was no room at the Inn or if the property would incur extra cost by accommodating us. A no-cost resolution was at their fingertips to satisfy a loyal customer. An issue such as this should not be bounced around from administrator to administrator. Too easy to solve from this customers perspective. I share this to caution anyone who may expect problem resolutions from this company if an issue should arrive during their stay. Loyalty is a one way street here.

"4th time at EPM"

Still love this place, BUT there are some changes I'm not a huge fan of, but definitely first world problems. We first stayed here in 2016 for our 10 year anniversary and were blown away by the service, the quality of food, and the 'feel'. It felt like a sanctuary for relaxation and pampering that included amazing dining options, whenever you wanted. Staying this time for our 20th anniversary, we noticed small changes since 2016 that slightly lowered the quality. There is no longer an option for a lunch buffet. The Kitchen Table only does a breakfast buffet (which was very good) but converts to a la carte for lunch. We found lunch at the Kitchen Table was terrible. Terrible options, terrible quality. I ordered the chicken sandwich and the chicken covered maybe half of the bun. Clearly EPM is making efforts to cut costs and increase profit. Also, the last 3 times we stayed, staff would go throughout the swim out area and clean the deck areas of towels and drink cups. That does not happen anymore and I believe they have cut staffing. Another problem was at dinner, if you tried to go eat before a show, it was inevitably a 45-60 minute wait to get a table. We ended up having to eat at 6pm or 930pm during the showtime in order to be able to walk up and get a table in a timely manner. Final complaint, we were offered the complimentary Anniversary package which included a 'special dining experience' in a restaurant of our choice that included a 'complimentary bottle of wine'. We chose the Lobster House and were seated in an excellent spot. However, the special dinner included a single rose in a glass at the table with a small metal sign that had a piece of paper inside that said "Happy Anniversary". It literally looked like they dug it out from the bottom of some drawer and wiped the dust off it. The server then came around with the "complimentary bottle of wine" that turned out to simply be the cheap Don Silvestre house wine. He made a production out of it and put it on display like it was a 100$ bottle of wine. This was silly because this is the same wine that I could order 10 glasses of if I wanted to at any other time. Having said all that, these were indeed first world problems. The room was beautiful, the food was great everywhere other than the Kitchen Table, and the service and staff were amazing. Oh, and this resort is no longer the hidden secret it once was. A few times there were a few loud, drunk, and obnoxious groups in the swim out area near the spa which was frustrating. But hey, they paid a lot of money too and are allowed to have a good time. Special mention to Rogelio around the swim out rooms. Absolutely amazing service and such a nice guy. He was incredibly genuine and grateful for the tips without ever seeming like he expected one. Will certainly return to the Excellence brand but may try the new Coral resort next time.
