"A great overnight stay"

10.0

We checking in late, after a horrific travel day in the Charlotte airport. We were greeted by our gracious hostess, who welcomed me and had just taken a cake out of the over for us. We were thrilled by this grand old mansion and it’s graciously large rooms. The furnishings are lovely and all of the rooms are oversized. The morning hot breakfast was delicious and generous. We had a marvelous time I the brief stay, but would return in a heartbeat!

The owner was very friendly. The open coffee area by the rooms is very nice, we got to meet a couple of fellow travelers there.

"Memorable Stay"

8.0

Be prepared. When we arrived the doors were locked and after ringing the door bell and knocking no response. There was a sense the place was abandoned. Fall wreath on main door, it was the middle of March. After calling I was told to come back and would be let in. Very nice lady running the inn by herself. Room was comfortable and homemade cookies and cake served on upper level all afternoon. Breakfast scheduled for 9:00 but served at 9:45. It is a taste of slow, southern pace and if you have the time can be enjoyable. The inn overall is starting to show some wear but it was a great location and memorable stay.

"Charming b&b"

10.0

Very charming hotel in excellent location, across the street from a beautiful park and easy 1-mile walk to the river. There is also a free shuttle which stops right in front of hotel which will take you to the river and elsewhere within a limited radius. Our room was huge with a very comfortable king size bed. The breakfast were delicious and more than enough to satisfy anybody’s hunger! Free parking also provided, and the owner provides homemade cake and cookies along with coffee all day.

The Confederate House is a beautiful old home and we were very comfortable. We stayed for one week. Ms. Colleen is quite interesting and kept us entertained with many stories of her life and the city of Savannah. She cooked us delicious breakfasts each morning consisting of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sausage, grits, egg soufflé, fresh fruits, coffee, tea and orange juice. There is a nice sitting room upstairs that the 3 bedrooms have access to and Colleen always had cake, cookies and coffee available. One thing I would mention for those who are not able to climb stairs easily... there are 20 stairs to get into the home and another 23 or so to get up to the bedrooms. Of course there isn't an elevator, so if you're not into stair-climbing, this may not be suitable for you. We stayed in the Queen bedroom toward the back of the house and it was very quiet at night.

The property needed some upgrading, but for a 72 year old host who has lived a shelter life. She is doing the best she can.

This is the best bargain for the money in Savannah! A beautiful house, very comfortable bed, large rooms, good breakfast, interesting owner. The maintenance on this B&B is good, but if you are looking for a pristine, immaculate, environment you should spend the extra $100 per night and go somewhere else. You will get a sense of that in some of the reviews, but we found it to be very good- nothing that turned us off. Also, this is the BEST location- right across from Forsyth park, and right at one of the DOT free bus pickups.
