Mahaweli Reach Hotel

Breakfast and dinner was very good, room was very spacious and nice, at a affordable rate. We got a complementary chicken dish at the dinner buffet after speaking to the head chef and giving feeback. That is very nice of the hotel staff.

The staff was amazing, from the front office (Kevin) to the servers (Nadeesha and Devi). The hotel is super clean, and there's always someone with a broom sweeping or cleaning. The room was very spacious. Location is amazing, and they keep the garden very clean, and there are amazing flowers. The set menu food was amazing (special thanks to Chef Themiya), the dinner buffet could improve (the flavor/overall seasoning can improve), and the breakfast buffet was very good.

We were enjoying the breakfast buffet one day, and there were a few foreign guests who came in. As soon as they came in, the chefs and the other staff removed the bacon and the pork sausages from the buffet table, saying it was offensive to keep pork because of their religion. We saw the same guests the previous night having alcohol, smoking, and enjoying themselves. The food is already marked, and if it's offensive, they can choose not to have it. We paid a premium amount to stay at the hotel, and it was not fair to the other guests. I'm sure those guests didn't ask the hotel to remove the pork items, but it felt like the staff wanted to please them over the other guests, which was not fair. So please be mindful of these things. YES, we need to respect all the religions and cultures, but at the same time, there should be some equality as well.

The rooms need repair. They shifted my room and downgraded us because of a plumbing issue. Keep in mind i checked in at 830pm. 8 and a half hours to fix a plumbing issue. In the next room, the AC didn't work and they informed me that this is the normal (26°C). They tried to make it up with a dinner and after I talked to them about the price difference of rooms they then decided to give me a spa treatment. Breakfast has a large selection to choose from but fruit flies could be found on the vegetables and the sausages were clearly from packets.

Rating: 5/5 Review: I liked it very much. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, the food was great, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel features a huge pool that was a big plus for relaxation and fun. I would recommend this place to all my friends and I can’t wait to visit again.

Everything was perfect

Habitación cómoda y amplia, cama grande, amplio buffet de desayuno y cena! Además tenía gym, maquinas antiguas pero muy completo para mantener rutina. Escogimos habitación con vistas al río en lugar de vistas a la piscina, más auténtico y el amanecer precioso. Muy recomendable.

Había muchos mosquitos, aunque es inevitable estando tan cerca del río.

We booked a full river view suite and were blown away by the stunning, peaceful scenery right outside our window. The view of the river alongside the hotel made our stay truly memorable.

The building is quite old with no lift, and due to mosquitoes outside, we had to keep the windows closed.

The only negative thing is the bathroom tub. It is quite slippery due to the sloped area right after the sliding door entrance. My wife slipped and fell.

Whilst the place was in an amazing place, the whole stay was a forgetful event. Initial greeting was great, and we did get the rooms next to each other (since my children were staying with us). At night we realised room had ants. Once we made the front desk know, all that they were willing to do was to clean the ants out and spray something, then expect us to stay in the same room. When we complained, they offered us a room further away from my children. I've had to explain to the staff the whole idea of getting the rooms together to make sure that I stay close to my children. After a long back and forth, they gave us room next to my children. It was a horrible experience. Some towels were not clean. Absolutely will not recommend this hotel to anyone. The dinner was unforgettable. As a matter of fact, so was the breakfast (half board stay). If the full marks were out of 10, I would probably give 2 Purley because of the location.

Even though the dinner staff weren't the friendliest ( apart from Himesha, I believe staffs name) at dinner. After a brief chat with the manager, the breakfast staff were very attentive and helpful. Clearly, the manager had a conversation with the staff...
