"Wait till the work is finished"

4.0

First, the good points of this hotel. It is in a very pretty old building and the grounds, which include a swimming pool, are pleasant and well maintained. Best of all in this congested city, it has parking for the guests. Breakfast on the terrace was very nice. Unfortunately the hotel is currently undergoing a face-lift and the building work may well cause disruption to your stay. There is no lift. We needed to rest during the afternoon of our stay but this proved impossible due to the noise of the building work in the room next door. Our room was very shabby. The shower was completely inadequate (a cool trickle) and the taps stubbornly refused to produce anything other than luke-warm water. The furniture was old and worn out - though the bed was clean and comfortable. Assuming that the builders and decorators do a good job, this may become a very nice little hotel but at the moment I'd give it a miss. The location is only so-so. Yes, as the publicity says, it's 10 minutes from the Promenade des Anglais but not the fashionable end; its a 20 minute walk to the city centre and the Old City, the flower market and the Cours Saleya.

"City Break"

8.0

A charming family run hotel very close to all the amenities Nice has to offer. The pool and terrace area is a delight as is the continental breakfast. There is also free secure parking and the hotel is in a very private location close to the centre.

"Work in progress"

2.0

Hotel Armenonville will be a very nice hotel when the restoration work is complete. At the moment, however (April 2017) workmen are renovating and redecorating the building and, if our room is anything too go by, the hotel is well-overdue a makeover. Our room was quite small, with shabbily furnished, though the bed was comfortable enough. The shower, however, was completely inadequate - a luke-warm dribble - and the tap over the washbasin could not be induced to produce hot water, either. After a very early start in the UK, we needed to rest during the afternoon but the noise of the building work in the room next-door made this impossible. The location of the hotel is not ideal, either. It takes ten minutes to walk to the Promenade des Anglais and a further 15 minutes walking east along the seafront to get to the heart of the city.

"Nice hotel"

8.0

Nice hotel. Close to the old center of the city, about 20 min walk. Close to the beach. The hotel is in an old mansion, and the decor is vintage too. The bathroom is good and the rooms are confortables. Parking for 10 euros. Prices are good, compared to other options in Nice.

"Cozy hotel in a good neighborhood, in the center of Nice"

8.0

We were on a family trip via Europe, four adults with a small dog. However, when we arrived there was an issue about keeping our pet in the hotel. The hotel staff was a little bit surprised that we have a dog. They called a manager or owner who finally allowed us to stay. We had reservations from booking.com. There is an information the hotel allows pets but for example on a hotels.com site there isn’t one. So if you want to travel with a dog make sure you confirm it beforehand. The hotel is located in the residential area in the separated backyard. It looks safe, there is a fence around the building and a small garden. You get there through a gate. You can park your car at the hotel parking lot, it isn’t big but enough for the hotel guests. The hotel is very elegant. Interiors look nobly. In the past it was just a villa. Unfortunately there isn’t any lift. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. At the beginning there was an unpleasant smell from the bathroom but after using water it got better. The room was equipped with a small fridge but the temperature there wasn’t low enough. I don’t remember about other rooms but we didn’t have a balcony. In the summer season you can use small but a very nice swimming pool but it’s unnecessary because you can get to the main beach in a 10 minutes walking distance. The hotel offers breakfasts but we heard it’s not very good and overpriced so we decided to eat at the nearby café (Les Délices Dorés – 37 Boulevard Gambetta) which I highly recommend. The staff at the hotel prefers to speak French and sometimes there is nobody at the reception desk. One day I stayed in the room with a dog and I wanted it cleaned during our walk. Unfortunately it was impossible to make that request because the cleaning lady didn't speak English at all... The neighborhood looks very nice and tidy. There are lots of restaurants where you can eat decent meals. Our stay there was very satisfying.

"Great for a quick getaway"

10.0

I traveled for the weekend from Germany, and just wanted a pool to sit by that wasn't too far from the Promenade. This place was perfect - quiet, clean, friendly staff who spoke English. There was a bus stop just 5 minutes from it, which meant a 1.50 EUR bus ride versus a much more expensive cab ride. Also lots of restaurants, kiosks, and grocery stores nearby (there was a small mini fridge in the room for snacks and drinks). I got upgraded to a room with a terrace, which was a restful place to hang out. Will definitely go back there when I can!

"Perfect for our family. Beautiful, quiet and great people."

10.0

We had the family suite room 8 for four great days. Beautiful, stylish room with a balcony for breakfast that led out to the small but appropriate pool. We did not use our front door for most of our stay! Staff were excellent and just a short walk to 2 great bakeries and the promenade. Loved every minute of our stay. Biggest shower head in Europe! Just outside the busy city centre. Lovely and quiet at night.

"Beautiful little hotel, great location, stunning terrace and pool area"

8.0

This is a beautiful and charming little hotel in Nice, family owned and run. Less than a 10 minute walk to the beach it is perfectly located as it is not too close to the busy bustling promenade, but close enough to reach the beach easily. It is set back from the road in a little gated complex with a wonderful pool and terrace area. The outside of the hotel and garden is very well looked after, the pool is very clean (if a little chilly) and the garden is beautiful. There was a gardener tending to it almost every day we were there. Some of the terrace furniture is a little tired, but we didn't mind at all. There is a lovely covered long table next to the pool where you can take breakfast in the morning. You can tell that care and love goes into the outside and it is a very calm, quiet and relaxing place to spend time in. We spent hours by the pool reading and taking dips - bliss. The owners of this hotel were kind and friendly and could not have done enough to help us. The cleaners were very smiley and lovely and left our air con on for us so that the room was nice and cool upon our return. The rooms are basic and a little dated and do need some work. They have a mini fridge which is very useful, but could do with a kettle in them too perhaps. However, you can make tea and coffee throughout the day in the breakfast room if you like. We didn't mind about the rooms needing a little spruce because the bathrooms are clean and fresh and the bed was very comfortable. Plus, you hardly spend any time in your room do you! The breakfast was lovely, a nice continental spread with fresh hot coffee, juice, plenty of croissants, ham, cheese and bread. We could have done with a little more fresh fruit though. The owners were very attentive and helpful at breakfast, always replenishing when things ran out and looking after us. We could take our breakfast outside on the terrace and enjoy it in the serenity and peace of the beautiful garden. Everything was so relaxing and we were free to do what we liked. I would 100% stay here again, for the price and location it is excellent - you could do a lot worse and spend a LOT more in Nice! It was JUST what we needed. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
