Bellerive Hotel

Basic hotel with parking in the back, small but comfortable rooms, basic breakfast. Hotel is nothing more than just to have a sleep for a night. All in prefect order but a bit outdated. Internet did not work.

We stayed 3 nights at Bellerive Hotel in Lausanne, and had a pleasant experience. The lady at check-in was excellent (very pleasant, helpful & courteous). Room was clean and tidy. Self parking is available. We dined in on 2 nights, and it was satisfactory (waiter was pleasant & courteous). Breakfast was buffet style, and was quite good. The hotel is a short 10-15 minute stroll to the waterfront retail complex, and ~15 minutes walk to the city centre, however, an excellent bus service passes by the front of the hotel.

Great little hotel on a main street. Our room had a lake view that was just lovely. Reasonably sized room, good amenities in room, slept well. Front desk person was extremely helpful including providing a free pass for use of their public transportation system with a good explanation of how to use it. Bus stop was close by on the same street. Only negatives were that the room looks a little dated compared to other hotels we stayed in on our trip and the door to turn the tub to a shower did not work properly as it kept folding in on us.

Like a small apartment

Great location. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are good size; quiet, beds are comfortable. Amazing breakfast.

My wife and I stayed at the Bellerive for three nights in early September. We'd rather stupidly arranged to arrive in Lausanne on the last day of the city's triathlon, so accommodation was hard to find. The Bellerive, however, was a very pleasant surprise in what I'd feared would have been a packed city. The hotel itself is in a non-descript part of town, and you'll want to use the bus if arriving by train. That said, without luggage it's a pleasant walk to the Délices metro station, or of course there's always the bus back to the station. The metro connects the old town with the port of Ouchy, although the fitter guests may be happy to do the whole thing by foot. Being a bit out of the action, the hotel is much quieter than many others. Our room overlooked the lake, which meant that any traffic noise was further reduced. Thick walls tended to reduce noise from our neighbours, too. Breakfast is available both in hot and Continental forms, although I never tried the hot options (they didn't seem to be replaced as frequently as the breads, cheeses, fruits, and so on). It's definitely possible to set yourself up for a day of sightseeing with the spread available. There's a bar on site if you feel the need for a drink in the evening, and the hotel has a list of recommended restaurants in the neighbourhood, which is always welcome. Guests are given the "Lausanne Card", which gives free public transport, as well as some discounts on admission to places. We didn't realise that the Olympic Museum was one which attracted the discount, but apparently it does. In an expensive part of an expensive country, discounts and freebies are never a bad thing! The only negatives I can point to were that the shower screen in our room was hinged and had a tendency to swing wildly if you tried to fold it out. As a result, trying to avoid wetting the bathroom floor actually resulted in the floor getting wetter! Additionally, despite a notice outlining the usual "towels on the rail means don't change them" and recommending that we turn the lights and TV off when we leave, the housekeeping staff tended to leave the lights on after they'd serviced the room. A minor quibble, of course, but if we're all meant to be being environmental, we should all do the same things.

Clean and comfortable room. Nice view of Lake Geneva. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location close to bus routes and from there easy access to trains and metro. Would definitely stop again and recommend to others. Price also very reasonsble compared wirh many other jotels in Lausanne.

The room at this hotel was very good. Large enough to have two suitcases open on the floor, good bath room and shower and a most comfortable bed / pillows. Kettle and safe available in room. There was also a bar fridge and two complimentary bottles of water ~ unfortunately our fridge would not cool. Good free WIFI. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Good English spoken at the front desk. Hotel has a lift. No aircon. Windows in room and bathroom opens but quite loud traffic noise in our room facing the main street. Buffet breakfast is from 7.00a.m. and has quite a good selection of breads and cereals.
