Everything was fine except coffee

Excellent staff went out of their way to make my stay memorable… but on a down note .. the property is very dated . I sort of felt I was living in the 1980’s again .. nevertheless I enjoyed my stay 😊

I loved my stay at the empress hotel Chiang Mai! The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was amazing with a great welcome package of water and chocolates and other goodies. So many restaurants, markets, and the night bazaar within walking distance. Would absolutely stay here again!

Overall liked the hotel, but absolutely hate the old school key system. Makes it impossible to have 1 person in the room and 1 person out and about. Why not use key cards as they have existed for 35 years now. I like that parking was free though. Will not stay here again unless they modernize the door locks and key system.

28/12/24 - 05/01/25 Room 1509 Lovely hotel yet a little aged. Chiang Mai at New Year is expensive however we paid a little over £510 for 8 nights which is very reasonable. Room is nice, again aged, the staff are friendly and helpful. We even got a gift of snacks when we checked in. Fairly good location, About a 15/20 min walk to the night markets, please of bars restaurants on route. Be aware though that the pool bar prices are quite possibly the biggest rip off in Thailand, and that says a lot. It’s a shame they feel the need to rip their guests off. Other than that, all positive

The first time visiting Chiang Mai after the pandemic though we originally booked a hotel around the night bazaar but was cancelled two months ago due to the damage from the recent floods. The hotel looked cleaner and the room was tidy and unusually clean for a hotel of its age. Some of the staff were friendly though one of the male staff at the front desk looked indifferent. The area had many massage shops and eateries though we had to take a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride to the night bazaar area. The usual goodies were still given and the breakfast remained the same. A good hotel in Chiang Mai indeed.

Excellent property, very close the chiang mai night market, you can get food, shopping at your walking ease. Rooms are the best.
