The Ahwahnee

Stayed in cottage away from main building. I don’t recommend their cottages. Reminded me of a $79.00 a night red roof in room. Electric outlets worked occasionally. Shower ran out of hot water fast. Furnishing’s were sparse to say the least. Did have a great coffee maker. Thermostat didn’t work. Cold in room without recourse to heat. Stay in main building rooms instead. After all incredible location.saw a few deer.

Stunning historical hotel that’s a tourist attraction as much as a fully functioning high-end hotel.

The humble, modest rooms are deliberately kept as they would’ve been 50-100 yrs ago, which means they are not at all the standard you would expect in an expensive hotel. Somewhat charming, but ultimately lacking.

Front desk sent a wrong message on the Dining Room Restaurant operations and sink in the room was clogged and dirty water always stayed there. We had expected Ahwanee is the best hotel in Yosemite but it was not really.

Location was great with good views of Yosemite. Quiet and nice environment. Free hot beverages in the restaurant in the morning which was a plus. Filtered water dispenser was quite far away.

Bed was too soft and small. Stayed in a cottage but it was old and rundown. Heater did not work but the portable one does. Room was ready late. Far walk to carpark with luggage and all.

Amazing hotel - worth every penny - get a mountain view room! We had a perfect view of Yosemite Falls.

Location location location

We have stayed at the ahwahnee once before and it is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. However it is very expensive so we had high expectations. Our travel arrangements were locked in when we were notified there were building works scheduled during our stay - think this should have been made clear when we made the booking. We had requested Room 444 as we had stayed in it before and had good memories ... despite reminding the hotel of the request we were told it was not available when we arrived. Had the sense that no effort had been made to accommodate our wish, so that was a little deflating. On the day before our departure we were notified electricity would be turned off at 8am. We decided to leave before the 11am check out as a result and were in the elevator well on the fifth floor well before 8 but the elevator did not arrive and power was turned off despite a staff member requesting the power to stay on do we could use the elevator. I had to take our reasonably heavy luggage down the stairs. It is such a perfect place and great building that left a sour taste. We were offered a discount, only some of the promised amount was refunded to my credit card but soooo disappointed as we had looked forward to this stay. The mandatory valet parking service USD30 plus tip/day had been introduced since our last stay and it would be more honest to include that amount in the room charge. Hate hidden charges.
