We stayed at the Metadee in 2014 and since then there has been a total renovation with new buildings,restaurant, pools and gym, so our first reflection of the hotel on arrival was WOW, saying that this review is a true full reflection of our 2 week stay, some positives, but mainly negatives and needs of improvement. The rooms are huge, plenty of room for clothing, his and hers sinks, toilet and shower with glass walls and doors(only downside is you have no privacy when using the shower or toilet), the bed is huge 2x140cm mattresses and quite comfortable, TV with Thailand, French, Arabic,Russian and Chinese channels (considering that this is a mixed international hotel a few English speaking news channels would be appreciated),the balcony chairs are very uncomfortable (metal and rope) and are roasting hot after cooking in the sun all day, so the balcony was only used for drying swimming trunks and bikinis during our stay. The AC system for some reason only had fan power settings 2,3,4 no number 1 setting, not ideal when you want to sleep as number 2 was pretty powerful and you felt the chill in the room. You receive fresh beach towels, personal towels and 2 bottles of water are on a daily basis which I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The pool area is generous, but unfortunately there aren’t enough sun beds for everyone, you have to be at the pool early to have a chance to get one as they are pre booked by other hotel guests with towels and personal items. The staff are very friendly especially those that drive the buggies back and forward to the main road, brilliant service. Seeing as the hotel has a 4 star rating the cleanliness of the rooms needs more attention. The general cleanliness and hygiene of the rooms was mediocre at best,on areas above your head you could find dust that has been accumulating for some time, I would say months,above the safe and on higher shelves, the floors in the room are only brushed of debris (not mopped) I would expect mopped floors on a daily basis, the same goes for cleaning of the toilet and shower area, the toilet was just showered down, no products like bleach or similar were used, the toilet bin wasn’t emptied for 2 days and was full (unhygienic), the glass walls in the shower were never cleaned, lime scale built up on a daily basis and you could write your name in the grime after a few days (disgusting), the large mirror in the bathroom area had smudges on arrival and was never cleaned during our stay. Then you also have to wait until 16:00-17:00 for the room to be cleaned, not ideal after an afternoon/day at the beach or pool. With 4 days left we had to change our room because of the smell of thick smoke that was coming in from the AC system late in the evening, this was not the hotels fault as there is a piece of land next to the hotel which the locals use to burn all kinds of rubbish, the hotel staff acted accordingly and changing of room wasn’t a problem, but again the cleaning status was the same as the previous room. There was also noisy drunk guests swimming, smoking (none smoking hotel) and playing load music late in the evening when the pool area was supposed to be closed, this happened on 2 occasions during our stay, the staff didn’t do anything. I suppose if you come from a certain Eastern European country there are rules for them and different rules for everyone else. We were to be collected for our journey to the airport late in the afternoon 16:00 on our last day, so we asked in the reception the day before if we could keep our room until then, we were told that the hotel was fully booked and we could only keep it until 14:00(I checked online and the hotel wasn’t fully booked as you could still book plenty of rooms, we also noticed that other guests from Eastern Europe where leaving late afternoon/evening during our stay…again I assume it’s okay for some, but not for others. In general we enjoyed our stay in Kata Beach, but for the price we payed for our stay we expected more, the general cleanliness and disturbances we encountered would mean that unfortunately we wouldn’t stay here again.

Facility itself was like something out of Breath of the Wild, which I personally loved. Maybe it's common in Phuket cos I was the only one really psyched about it. The room I got initially was great, and after some problems I got upgraded to a newer one which was really out of this world for me. Direct access to the water below via staircase, floating around like Link, incredible really.

The balconies were dirty both times I stayed on the older side. I waited an hour for staff to help me move to a new room, and stayed for 2 hours on the last day, but they charged me for an entire day, and refused to give me a coupon or anything. Some underlying hostility in wait staff.

Just returned from 2 fabulous weeks staying at the Metadee. From the moment we arrived after a long flight - eek, was so grateful they allowed us to check into our room 3 hours early so we could have a sleep!! Lovely room, with a large bathroom with freestanding bath, shower and w.c. Large bed, sofa and tables in our room. Good wardrobe space - could do with more hangers though!! Loved the fact they provided mosquito repellent in the rooms and were happy to provide more when asked. Our Housekeeper was the beautiful NeeNee and she was so lovely, even though my Thai language skills are very basic, like NeeNee’s English - we were able to understand each other!! We stayed bed and breakfast, which was amazing, with the choices available for the different nationalities of guests at the Hotel. Special shout out to Executive Chef M, who was there every morning checking the food, Kamal, who was an absolute legend at the Egg Station - he made sure Hubby and I had our Paratha or Naan bread each morning, as well as perfectly poached eggs - yum, yum!! The staff were super efficient ensuring guests didn’t have to wait too long for a table, especially at busy times. The only gripe - the sun bed hoggers!! This is a personal gripe as I hate having to save sun beds - grrr!! Some days you could go to the pool by the small restaurant and there were loads of beds, then the next, they were all taken by 9.00 with nobody using them until late afternoon!! Sadly, we did have to save a bed on some days which I found uncomfortable to do, but apart from that, there were no issues. Sadly, we will not be staying next year as TUI UK do not appear to be selling it - or maybe I am too early and they will have it next year after all. Will definitely return if I get a chance. Really enjoyed our stay and was a wonderful introduction to Kata Beach and Phuket.

There are some really fabulous & stunning things about this hotel/resort, but there are also some things that made it simply average. Let’s start with all the great things…. The rooms are beautiful, very comfortable and absolutely everything you could need or want has been thought of. Fabulous bathrooms and a lovely, modern, luxurious vibe in the rooms. The food overall was very good, the pumpkin soup in the restaurant was out of this world, the green curry was delicious and there’s something for everyone on the menu. The large Freeform pool is impressive and inviting and everywhere seems clean and pristine. So, why is it only average? The pool is mainly in shadow - it runs through all the large grey buildings that house the hotel rooms and other than right next to the pool bar, the sun doesn’t really reach the water at all. There’s a very dull and oppressive atmosphere from the pool area overall. The swim up rooms are ok if you’re on a ground floor, but the first floor rooms have a very slippery, dangerous spiral staircase leading to/from them which, when wet would be very dangerous and in any case, difficult for anyone with reduced mobility. The entertainment was dull and ‘samey’, nothing exciting at all going on that we could see. The Reception area is cold and uninviting. Reception staff were verging on the hostile side & the layout of the hotel was not clearly explained at all. We were asked to part with cash when we arrived, but when they realised we didn’t have much & would need to pay our ‘fee’? With cards they decided to waive it - seemed very odd! What had not been explained to us, that we discovered as we were leaving the hotel, was that there is a second entrance, where the spa is located, which has another pool, another restaurant and is not overshadowed - it all looked very beautiful but we had never been advised about this side of the hotel, despite having done a fair bit of exploring! Almost as if we weren’t allowed to use the area - again very odd! The hotel could do with giving out a little map of the resort at check-in, that would’ve helped. I think there are probably better hotels in the area so wouldn’t stay here again sadly.

Our biggest thanks to this amazing hotel, Metadee Concept Hotel! We couldn't have wished for a better hotel. We were a little hesitant at first about the distance to the main street, but it turned out to be perfect. The transportation with the buggies has worked absolutely fantastic. It has been wonderful to return to this oasis and wake up every morning in peace and harmony far from traffic, hustle and chaos. The hotel offer many guests their own private area and this creates space for relaxation. We had access to the pool directly from our terrace and it was wonderful to be greeted every morning by birdsong in this lush and beautiful garden. Our children of 13 and 15 have also loved spending time at the hotel. There are plenty of activities and recreation such as table tennis, pool table, darts, swimming and things to rent. The hotel has two separate pool areas with different characters and also two different restaurants and pool bars. There is also a Roof top bar which is super cozy… But what has influenced us the most during this trip are all the amazing employees at the hotel! Their smiles, hospitality and genuine concern is something we will take with us for the rest of our lives. Thanks to Thai peoples way of being, you inspire others from all corners of the world to be a little nicer, more humble, friendlier and more respectful to one another.
