The Woolpack Country Inn

Overnight stay, en-route to a Family day out. Lovely quiet location, pretty looking, well kept grounds. Check-in was easy, and all staff were very pleasant throughout stay. Food was ok, no reason to complain, but burgers were a little dry. Rooms were nice in decoration, but cleaning g could be improved. The kettle was very dusty, as well as windowsill, there were a few spiders and cobwebs in our Family room, bathroom tile grout needs a refresh to remove mould, extractors need cleaning and dead flies need removing from light fittings. Also not a reason for us to complain, but in the smaller of the family rooms, we could hear ever single word from the people talking in the room next door whilst we laid in bed. Overall a pleasant stay, a few improvement could be made by the owners, but would still recommend.

I like to start with positives, so check in was friendly and efficient, and the room was tidy. The bathroom was relatively clean but showing some signs of age around the edges,dirty mastic in corners and not sparkling, however hygenically speaking it was fine. The toiletries provided were high quality and plenty for one night. Sleeping proved difficult for both of us for several reasons, the mattress was tired and lacked much support, the bed frame creaked when moving, we were downstairs and could here people moving upstairs both with footsteps and creaking floor, but by far the worst point was the incredibly bright green light in the room which could not be switched off. I assume it was connected to the emergency lighting, but it certainly made it very difficult to sleep. After a difficult night we were greeted by the chef for breakfast, who was friendly and cooked a great full breakfast, however for anybody wanting a light breakfast. i.e. toast, jam, yogurt ,pastries etc, they were not there...the only option being porridge. So to sum up, I would say not a great place to stay considering the cost of £200+ per night...tbh even at £100 I probably wouldnt have stayed because of the light issue and noise....sorry Woolpack

Very nice property but issues with the wifi connections

Although the service was good, I found the cleanliness of the room a little wanting : there were cobwebs all around the edges of the ceiling and behind the TV. The breakfast was amazing: one of the best I have eaten. It was most pleasant to sit in the garden in th sun too. The pub is ideally situated for travelling around the area, where lovely little villages are dotted about. It is also handy if you are contemplating visiting Boomtown Fair.

We stayed for three days during Easter time, we had a wonderful time, the place is lovely, cozy and staff is very welcoming and friendly. There's a big car park outside, tables outside to eat and drink and a playground in the garden for kids. Rooms are comfortable, well cleaned and they provide bath products from a local company which are so good we have ordered online some! Every day we have found in the room water,tea,and delicius pieces of brownies. Breakfast is good, with plenty of choice, and we had dinner at the restaurant three nights and the food was very good. They had also pizza night in the courtyard outside! They have attention to details which gives the place a warm athmosphere and pleasureable stay.

This is a wonderful gastro pub with lovely accommodation in a separate block. A real find!

location. Breakfast a bit late at 9.00am so we missed it.
