Sunset Island Resort

Our experience was wonderful the staff was happy to help with anything.Anything that didn't work they fixed straight away.It was also very quite and lovely views from the balcony.

The room was good but smelled like cigarettes. Dryer sounded like a V8

Quiet spot and a ten minute walk to Cavill avenue. The apartment had everything we needed.

We couldn't believe how great the location and quality of the facilities were considering the price ! The cell reception in our room was a poor for Optus data network (calls were fine), but it was simply a matter of moving around a little to find a 'spot'. You could buy Wi-Fi (3rd party as usual) but found that it was oversubscribed to a point it just wasn't worth it (certainly couldn't stream video) - quick phone call and got a full refund. Great car parking, excellent facilities, clean and neat, staff were excellent as was the after hours service. Pool and surrounds seemed very well maintained - kids were disappointed we didn't get time to enjoy it as well.

Upon arrival the entire apartment smelt like a sewer. We aired out the room and discovered it took 3 full days and nights to get rid of the smell. Not ideal for my children. The master bathroom constantly leaked water from the cistern, and on the mirror is a sticker indicating we need to save water?? The shower rose in the master bathroom didn't fit the holder so had to be held in one hand to shower. The microwave didn't always work, sometimes it did sometimes it didn't. The cupboards had labels indicating the quantities of all the glassware, however all of the items were short of the specified quantities. We did mention this to the cleaners at the time of checkout and don't expect to be charged for them. The Coke vending machine is placed prior to the pool area and has a self locking door, and I found myself being locked in this area after buying a drink. It's an unsuitable place for a vending machine. In general we paid for 7 nights but only slept there for 3 nights as we were not comfortable with the hygiene of the apartment so were forced to stay over with friends in Brisbane. I would never recommend these apartments to any friends or family. From a health and safety perspective, these was only one way in and out of the apartment. In the event of a fire in the stairwell how do people get out??

Paid $250 per night for a queen bed and the hotel couldn't even provide sugar and milk for your tea or shampoo and conditioner or face washes. TV only had channel 7, SBS, ABC, and 3 channels of horse racing. Bad phone reception on the first floor where we stayed. Not real impressed. Clean but dated room. Bit of a walk to bars and eateries. Wouldn't stay here again.

We are a family of 4 who stayed for 9 nights. The rooms were not serviced even once during our stay, even though their compendium states that it would be serviced if your stay is for longer than 7 days! We are given 4 tiny soaps, one sachet of dishwashing liquid, one sachet of dishwasher powder and one sachet of clothes washing liquid - for the entire stay!! I know it's a business, but surely it doesn't make sense to give the same amount of things to someone staying for 1 night as those staying for 9 nights? We even ran out of toilet paper.... There were a number of broken plates, the cooking pans weren't even usable - everything stuck to it! The BBQ near the pool was FILTHY. The building itself was hot on the inside, with no aircon in the common areas and no airflow which meant we were subjected to the intoxicating smells of curries the whole time we were there. Not sure how they get a 4 star rating. We've travelled extensively, worked in the hotel industry for over 20 years and are well aware of the ins and outs but were still very disappointed with this accommodation.

Great place - walking distance to city, place was nice a peaceful. Awesome room sofa bed needs improvement but other than that very happy with the stay. Staff are great friendly always asking if everything is ok. Is self service so as long as you bring your own extras you won't have a problem.

It's about a 15 unite we wall from all the shops and then beach and it's not too close to the backpacker residences so it's no nice and quiet. A few of the dishes were a little dirty as was a white blanket but it's an easy fix. Great location and at a great price.

Really nice room, lovely and clean - beautiful pool area. Fairly quiet but close to everything. Little bit of miscommunication with staff re booking in, and bed was a little hard. But we would definitely stay again.
