Plaza Regency Hotels

Stayed 5 nights mid-week as part of a tour. Great location on the promenade, with lots of good dining options around, and on a main bus route. Room was clean, quiet, good shower and bed; but was quite small and not well equipped - no ironing board or tissues, seriously awful threadbare towels. Good buffet breakfast. Staff polite but inefficient. Laundry service dodgy in collection/delivery, but good actual washing. Hotel seemed focused on churning through tour groups in a routine way.

Stayed in June for a Week as a Family of 4 but in 2 Rooms an absolutely Perfect View. **Room 519 - Our room was pretty big, Bathroom was Big with a Bath/Shower. - Air Conditioning which was the best ever. **Room 520 - This room was different to 519. Bathroom was small and only a small Walk in Shower. - Air Conditioning kept cutting off so room got quite hot! Balconies quite small but Okay. - Plenty of Wardrobe pace and Drawers. - Kettle Station and Fridge. - Safety Box Free to Use. easy to set up. CLEANING - Rooms were cleaned daily. - Fresh Towels and Beds Made Daily. - Fresh Milk, Tea, Coffee Daily, If you wanted more milk reception just sorted it. We were informed that building works were on, but we heard nothing at all and did not effect us in the slightest. Didn't even think any was going on. BREAKFAST - Served from 7.30am to 10am. - The breakfast was rubbish. Very Very Basic. Wouldn't book Bed & Breakfast again. Not even fresh juice! - English was very basic and not that hot. The Bacon was overcooked and was very hard and Dry. Would just book Self Catering/Room Only. - A great view for Breakfast though if you got a window seat. ROOFTOP AREA/POOL - Situated on 8th Floor - Plenty of Chairs, Tables, & Sofas to chill. - Pool was beautiful, had a fantastic view looking over the Bay. - However Pool area was very crammed with beds. Literally next to each other. Plus full of Umbrellas which were placed in position where you smacked your head as quite low. - No snack area, other than crisps/ice-cream. Reasonably Priced really. - However, They were very strict about bringing your own drinks/water/snacks. Not allowed! Would DEFO return but on a Self Catering basis.

The hotel was conveniently located with nearby restaurants and the bus stop right outside. It was a 20 minute walk to the Valletta ferry or you could take the bus. The bus is €2 regardless of how far you go! The hotel staff were friendly, the room was spacious and clean and the rooftop pool had plenty of loungers. The buffet breakfast was one of the best I’ve seen. Plenty of choice and always topped up during service. We had a wonderful stay here and will definitely be back!

A really difficult review this one as with a lot of reviews on here we had major problems with noise. As we arrived i couldn’t hear the receptionist for the drilling noise next door and when we went to our room it sounded as if they were drilling in there with us . Also we paid extra for a sea view and only had trees to look at . After a lot of moaning and contacting Tui we were moved to the 5th floor but not till the 2nd day. The noise reduced by the 3rd day and was more of an irritation and only round the pool for the rest of our stay. The positive points are the room was good and the view was great but only from the 5th floor up. The pool and rooftop bar are great as are the staff. Breakfast is terrible and although 3 star they really could do much better. On reflection my wife said she wouldn’t return even without the building work and I’m not sure.

Room was ok. Could not sit on balcony due to noise it was horrendous from early in the morning till late at night. Staff were helpful when asking for information. Breakfast was not the greatest, pool was always crowded. This hotel has no bar to sit and relax in the evening and chat to other holidaymakers.

We stayed at the Plaza Regency in Malta for a short 2-night trip and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the location couldn't have been better — right where we wanted to be. It was excellent value for money, with everything exactly as described and as we had booked. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Malta!

Low points - Constant drilling from 7.30-4pm except Sundays. You can hear it everywhere in the hotel. Room 319 was ours and diabolical noise! Absolutely spoiled our holiday. Fire alarm went off 5 times on the first night, not consecutively just throughout the night. 3 times on the second night and twice on the first night.The evening Duty manager said he was unaware of the noise. Absolute lie! I understand the hotel cannot stop the building works but they should not be having residents in the most effected rooms or at least pre warn them. High points- good location. Clean rooms. Breakfast acceptable. Comfortable beds. Shame about the building works but the whole of Malta is the same! Maybe leave it until 2026 to visit!

The hotel is located on a busy road with lots of noise for the front rooms. We had booked a high floor with a sea view but on arrival we received a 3rd floor room with a view of trees which obstructed the sea view. After complaining, we were moved the next day to a 6th floor apartment with a magnificent view of the bay. The room was standard bedroom and bathroom with wardrobes and chest of drawers, plus an air conditioning unit which switched off as soon as you went on the balcony. There was a kettle with tea, coffee, sugar and milk, which were replenished daily. The room was cleaned every day and fresh towels were left when requested. It had a small balcony with a table and two chairs. One problem we had was a sewage smell in the bathroom which we were told was to do with the way the wind was blowing that particular day! Breakfast was served between 7.30am and 10am on the 6th floor. Again, standard stuff, nothing to write home about but never changed over the week. Serving staff were efficient and friendly and kept the place filled with food. We never used the swimming pool area as it was short on sunbeds and we don't throw towels down at 7am to secure beds, so we left it to the rest of the guests to battle with. Our receptionist, Numa, was a joy and we enjoyed our daily chats with her when she wasn't dealing with clients. She really deserves a better hotel to work in, in our opinion. Finally, the public transport buses are a mere 2 euros for anywhere on the island. The gofaster ferry to Gozo is 7.5 euros each way. You can get a cheap daily/weekly tickets or pay by credit card per journey. This is much better than the hop on hop off type buses that and save a great deal of time and money. Definitely go to the Popeye Village, it was the highlight of our stay.

This hotel was a disappointment to us in many ways. The staff on reception were very smiley but difficult to communicate with. We did not expect there to be stairs at the entrance and this was a struggle for older people with their luggage and no staff to help. This place is a definite no for people with mobility issues. There were six in our party, we had four rooms, one of which we referred to as a cupboard. It’s the smallest hotel room we’ve ever seen. One of the double rooms had such a small bathroom it was difficult to navigate and when you sat on the loo your legs touched the wall on either side. A man with broad shoulders would not fit in there nor would a larger person! Towels and pillow quality were not good. Breakfast was adequate, you would always find something you like but there were no frills. The location was good for our family but there is little going on close by. It is much livelier further into Sliema and on to Gzira. Balutta Bay is close by and it’s a nice walk to Spinola. The pool was freezing and there were rarely sun beds available. It must be a nightmare in high season. There are seats at the bar area which we used. The best thing about this hotel was its cleanliness. Sadly that is the only positive thing I have to say. We definitely would not return. There are too many nicer hotels to choose from.

The hotel is conveniently located in Sliema, in the Balluta Bay area. The re is a coffee shop and a bus stop right in front of the hotel, a supermarket just round the corner, as well as many bars and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel consists of 2 different buildings. The inside pool is in one of them, and the rooftop pool is in the other one. About one hour after I did my check-in, I discovered there were cockroaches in the bathroom. I immediately called the reception desk. It took a while for someone to come with an almost empty anti-insect product. This didn’t help and I saw the cockroaches again in the bathroom. I called the reception desk again and asked them to change my room. It took them almost an hour to sort out this issue, which ruined my first day in Malta. They moved me to a single room in the second building which did not have any insects. I was told the first room was bigger because they had decided to upgrade my room upon my arrival. The single room is very small, I could barely find space to put my suitcase somewhere. There is no fridge, and only a tiny desk and a wardrobe. No kettle. The bathroom is very small and there are no shelves to put your stuff on. The pictures of the single room on their website look much nicer than the actual room. The hotel was quite noisy because of construction works.  My friend was in a different room and could not sleep because of the noise. The rooftop pool is nice, but I thought it would be bigger based on the pictures. The staff was rather unfriendly and even rude sometimes. I told them that I don’t need to have my room cleaned and only asked to take out the trash, and that didn’t happen. I also asked for an extra towel, and I was told to come to the reception desk, no one suggested they would bring it to my room. I didn’t have breakfast included in my package but exceptionally I had breakfast one morning. I asked the day before about it and was told I could pay after having breakfast. When I explained my situation in the breakfast room, they told me to go back to the reception desk to pay before eating. It was very confusing. Thr breakfast itself was good, lots of choices. The staff was rather unorganized and unpleasant, and that’s why I would not go back to this hotel. I think you can find better hotels in this price range, and without insects in the room.
