Popinjay Hotel

Very nice people but the hotel is disappointing: No drinking water in the rooms...are you kidding? That was a shock. The shower's hot water didn't work either.

Rooms at front of hotel are noisy due to traffic so if young family could be problematic. Hotel staff very nice and helpful but hotel is in need of some TLC. Pool is excellent and very clean. Breakfast was freshly made and huge portions.

Just back from an amazing stay at this beautiful hotel. The communal areas have had a spruce up including the spa, pool & gym. It has to be said that the bedrooms could do with being updated. But they were comfortable, quiet & we had an excellent sleep. The biggest asset to the hotel is the staff. Every person we spoke to, asked for help etc nothing was too much trouble. From the bar staff Richard & Le-anne, the receptionist Danielle who helped us out enormously. The cleaner, the swimming pool & spa staff & Alan the Night Manager. What a great bunch of people. The food was excellent & good value for money. Thank you Popinjay we will be back!!

It is handy for Hamilton and the north

Room was smaller than the online picture suggested but was comfortable. My wife and I have difficulty walking around so had to drive as nowhere to go close.

Staff were always friendly and willing to help. The facilities were great. Reasonably priced room and food/drink. The room we stayed in overlooked the main road and was a tad noisy in the morning, great stay otherwise.

Sadly received an email (no call) with no subject heading a few hours before arrival cancelling my booking - luckily I checked my email during a break whilst driving north (with 2 dogs) and saw the email and was able after a fashion to make other arrangements. Totally understand that the hotel had to shut due to a COVID outbreak, was not best please somebody did not PHONE same day guests

Nice old hotel in need of updating, the bathroom list oks very good and the bedroom had new curtains but was spoiled by a stained carpet. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Very dated, bedroom carpet was very dirty, no hot water , food was good staff very friendly this was stuck to the bedroom wall not a very good photo but it is a hygiene sticker
