Battlesteads Hotel

A very comfortable and eco friendly hotel located in a nice village with easy access to Hadrians Wall Staff were excellent Meals were very good Only thing that let it down was the bed with the mattress being passed its use by date

The location is lovely and peaceful, surrounded by birdsong. The vstaff are young, enthusiastic and very helpful. We had the disabled friendly room on the ground floor, which was vert comfortable. The menu is always interesting with a good selection of local produce, including, on this occasion, a risotto with home grown mushrooms. I have no complaints at all about our stay.

Excellent-food good-room and bed very comfortable.

Loved the remote location and lovely quirky bar. Breakfast was beautiful and served in the sunny conservatory . Room (family room) was a little cramped but our teens are very tall eldest 6 foor 4 so smaller children would be no problem . Room extras fruit bowl and homemade biscuits were a lovely touch. Lots of tea, coffee instant and filter and hot chocolate for the boys. Grounds beautiful would love to return to do a dark skies night.

Beautiful part of the world, fabulous bar / restaurant, friendly attentive staff, very dog friendly. The food was excellent and choice of beers and wine to suit most tastes. Plenty of onsite car parking, there’s even electric car recharge points if that’s your thing. We will definitely return and try one of the chalets next time.

A brilliant base from which to explore Hadrian’s Wall and other things in the area. Food was also very impressive, at both breakfast and dinner. We’ll be coming back.

Good stay. Very noise in room 13, next to a fire door that shut loudly until 1am and generator outside. Bed very uncomfortable - huge lumps on either side, very worn down. Lovely staff, nice food and good homemade gin. I’d recommend the bar and restaurant but not necessarily the hotel based on over £100 a night for a lumpy bed.

Fabulous visit, vey plesant, good food. Observatory was very interesting.

It felt very homely and comfortable. The staff are really pleasant. The food was delicious.
