Hotel Irma

The hotel was clean and overall the staff were friendly. We did have several instances where after we paid cash for food in the restaurant, we were told we didn’t pay for the meals. Initially I thought it was an error until I checked out and they demanded 1200 extra pesos on food charged to the room. We ate nothing in the room. Other guests that had previously been at hotel Irma said they experienced the same thing and one guest also commented on watching a server pocket the money she gave him in payment for breakfast. Ice is free there and on two separate occasions I was charged 40-50 pesos for ice. All these incidents occurred when the General Manager was not on shift supervising. Clearly intentional dishonest acts happening regularly. I would be very careful with your transactions within the hotel and record conversations and video transactions with the staff. A bit disheartening. Buyer beware

Hotel Irma was friendly and accommodating . We started on the 6th floor, view was AMAZING! It should be noted that there is no elevator, therefore a lot of stairs! Room 603 had a constant pump kicking on an off, so we requested a room change and they obliged right away and went to the 3rd floor. Pools are amazing and a necessity. Food at this place was amazing. Try the Avocado/tuna dish. Lots of decks with lounge chairs for quiet areas, if you just want to stare at the view or read a book. Staff = amazing. Margarita's = amazing. Happy Hour 12-2pm & 5-7pm. Perfect meal time sipping :) Owner was onsite and very hands on and concerned about her guests and staff, nice to see that! Taxis usually always parked outside to get you up and down the hill to town, if you're unable to climb it. Beaches are clean and water was swimmable. Would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is very nice and in an area that is not loud during the night which made it perfect for relaxing. They have a nice restaurant with a beautiful view, the breakfast was delicious. They have a happy hour twice a day. The rooms are left spotless with the cleaning staff. The street at the entrance takes you to so many local eateries. The only thing I wish they had was a coffee maker in the room, they do offer free coffee in the morning and it’s very rich, however you do have to go down to the restaurant to get it.

Too many stairs! We were on the 5th floor..I would get a lower floor room.

Great view. Walkable into town and to the peir. Pool is nice.

Pros: staff reasonably pleasant, some English speaking, some not, but it’s their country! Lovely view from high on the cliff. Pool also up high. The room was clean.

Cons: Reservation through Booking.com did not include breakfast. We paid $175 US. Room had three small shelves but no closet which was ok for us as our stay was only one night. At 5 pm the water in the shower was scalding hot immediately and no cold water. We couldn’t turn off the killer hot water and had to get help. They came promptly. The “cold” water started hot but eventually was tepid. The toilet wouldn’t flush because the flapper was disconnected, requiring us to remove the back of the toilet every time. After two requests they fixed it the next morning. Playa La Madera is a steep descent down and not nearly as nice as nearby Playa la Ropa.

Hotel Irma is so lovely. The hotel is well maintained, staff were efficient and so friendly. We love it!
