"A great find- Khaolak Laguna Resort!"

10.0

We are currently staying at the Laguna resort. We will be here in total for two weeks on a B and B basis. We primarily chose the hotel for its proximity to the beach and we liked the style of the hotel traditional Thai decor and buildings . We chose a room in one of the main blocks, although they are low rise with only two floors rather than a bungalow /villa. The reason being the villas seem to be close together and only a few face the sea. Our room is more than adequate, spacious with excellent Aircon. The rooms are very clean and quiet. Service here is very good . English is spoken very well and there has been nothing that has been lost in translation. Sunbeds are plentiful with a number of areas to choose from . Generally speaking, families seem to spend time around the pool and there is a lovely green area that overlooks the beach where couples mostly lie. Overall, this is a lovely, quiet hotel, on the beach but walking distance to loads of restaurants. A great place!

"Comfortable two weeks"

8.0

This was our first visit to Khaolak Laguna Resort, but our third to Khao Lak. The hotel is impressive, with a large reception area, with a similarly large building with a buffet restaurant behind it. We arrived early due to flight times so we weren't able to check in, but we were given our room number and a card so that we could use the bar for drinks and food, and we were given towels so that we could use the pool. There are several sets of toilets available to change in, so we were able to get settled around the pool quickly. We were able to check into our room at 14:00 as we were advised, and our bags were delivered a minute or two after we arrived. The rooms are either in small blocks, or are individual bungalows. The hotel is large and sprawls over a large area (look it up on Google's satellite view, it's impressive!), but only the main buildings are particularly big. Our room (basic room) was clean and well set out. All the facilities in the room were well maintained. Other than the usual bits, in the room you get: Hairdryer Shoe horn Laundry bag Mirror Chairs & coffee table One European plug socket for the hairdryer Sockets either side of the bed (Type A I think) Safe Tea & coffee making facilities (with powder whitener) Chargeable mini bar - although you get two free bottles of water a day - the mini bar is good value Ironing kit (To note, there is a price list for all the items in the room that are nice and people might want to sneak into their suitcase to take home....!) The bed linen is advertised as not being changed unless you ask for it to be done. I asked for it to be changed mid-way through our two week holiday. In the bathroom - our towels / flannels etc were either changed every couple of days, or we threw them in a basket to be changed - there wasn't much consistency here. Shampoo - this was adequate for my very fine (but lots of it) mid length hair, but if you have specific hair needs, take your own. Shower gel - perfectly good. Moisturiser Emergency toothbrushes Hair comb There is NO hair conditioner - I had already seen that on here and took my own. We had a separate bath and shower in our bathroom. The room had effective air conditioning. The balcony has chairs and a table, plus a drying rack. Unfortunately, our top floor balcony was unusable when it rained due to the bad design (we like to sit out and watch a good rain & thunder storm) and even clothing drying at the back of the balcony got wet due to the spray so we ended up drying clothing inside the room over the last few days of the holiday due to the short periods of heavy rain we had. The public areas of the hotel are generally in good condition and well maintained, although there are little things that make you think that some aspects are getting a bit tired - holes in the fitted towels for the sun loungers, splintered and broken wood on some of the wooden sun loungers - with some bodged with screws and nails to keep them going and there were some whole areas of tiles missing in the public toilets. But these are some very minor points over a hotel that is apparently one of the oldest in Khao Lak having survived the tsunami. As a vegetarian, the breakfast buffet always had something available for me to eat - usually not as interesting as for the meat eaters, but there was always a small variety of options. The bar / restaurant by the beach had a full vegetarian menu which they were happy for me to order from at lunch time. The food we had was tasty and the staff were friendly and efficient. While the staff do circulate the pool/beach view areas to take drink orders throughout the day, the quickest way to get beer is to go to the bar and order, especially during lunch service - it's not far from any of the sun loungers. The pool was usually warm, but still refreshing given the heat of the days! After a few heavy rain showers the pool did cool off, but I wouldn't have described it as cold at any point. Overall, given its size, the hotel only felt busy on a couple of days, and we were always able to get a table for breakfast and a pair of shady sun loungers around the pool. I know some people complained about people reserving sun loungers, but we never had an issue. Depending on the tides, you can get down to the beach and walk either way to get lunch and drinks at some of the other hotels and Andalay Bar (turn left for Andalay, it's great, cheap and about 20 minutes walk along the beach). There is a lot of wildlife, including a large monitor lizard who occasionally hangs out outside of the ladies loo near the pool! We even saw an owl :) The hotel is pretty much at one end of Khao Lak's main drag, with several restaurants and a couple of bars directly opposite the hotel. It's then around a 25/30 minute walk to the end of the bulk of the bars and restaurants. There are loads to choose from, including a couple of Thai craft beer bars - new for 2025! On check out we called for our luggage to be collected and taken to reception - they were quick and efficient, arriving within a couple of minutes - we had pre-booked a packed breakfast due to the early start, and we were able to pay our bill by card without any additional charge. Accessibility - if you have any mobility issues or are a wheelchair user, I would suggest making contact with the hotel before booking to see what adjustments can be made, if any. There are a lot of steps to get to the breakfast buffet and reception buildings, as well as many small sets of steps to get around the other areas of the hotel. Overall, we had a great couple of weeks. We spoke to a lot of return visitors, and would definitely look at this hotel should be return to Khao Lak. I feel like there is room for improvement at this hotel, with some investment required. Having said that, as we were leaving work was being completed on their conferencing facilities, new planting was being completed around the hotel, and new fitted towels for the sun loungers were being tested, so I am sure some of those tired elements will be rejuvenated in the very near future.

"Perfect stay at a very nice beach resort."

10.0

This is the second time that we have stayed there and both times we found the resort perfect. The location is very good, it’s a 5 - 10 min walk to the start of the town and there is a few restaurants opposite Laguna resort which are well worth a visit. The big night market is 10 mins drive in a taxi at 300 bht and worth a visit for the bargains. The beach is very nice which you can access straight from the resort and never had a problem getting a sun lounger.

"5th visit 🇹🇭 👍"

10.0

We recently visited Khao Lak Laguna Resort for two weeks all inclusive from 12th March This was our 5th visit. We would like to thank all the staff particularly at the Sundowner Restaurant, notably Ju, Na, Ao, Thai, Ko, Benz, Aum and May for making our holiday really enjoyable. They work really hard and are always smiling and attentive. Also like to thank Wai and the cleaners of our Villa. We enjoyed our stay so much we have already booked our 6th stay returning February 2026.

"Great place - the main strip is easily accessible and the hotel is really good."

10.0

It does exactly what it says it will. It is billed as a 4* and that is exactly what it is, and that’s a very good thing. Not quite got the fripperies of a 5* but very close and definitely exceeded our expectations. Room was large, very comfortable and well furnished and the grounds are lovely. The staff we have interacted with have all been great, and a very nice place to stay. We’ve been to Khao Lak before and stayed at the other end of this bit of the strip. The Laguna is far nicer as a place to stay and is still close enough to the shops and bars and restaurants that you can walk in and back a few times a day very easily if that’s your thing. If you are in a room close to the road then it can be a bit noisy but as I stay in hotels every week for work normally then I always have a good supply of ear plugs. We popped those in and the only niggle went away, sorted. The pool area seems a little cramped for the size of hotel and has the usual idiots reserving sun beds so half of them are empty for hours but still nowhere for anyone else to sit. I wish more hotels would clamp down on that. Great place and would definitely come back.

Beautiful hotel with nice and well kept surroundings. Very friendly and helpful staff and good service. Great breakfast with good selection of both international/western and Asian chioices. Nice pool area with plenty of sun loungers. Nice and spacious (Oriental) villa. Walking distance to many restaurants, shops and services.

Beach is good but not accesible during high tide, this really isn”t hotel’s fault though
