The Castle Hotel

We arrived late at night (2230) to a noisy pub, parking was not am issue as we were able to park right oitside the pub. The welcome we had from our host was great and nothing was too much trouble for him. By the time we had taken our bag to the room and come back down stairs, the pub had almost emptied. The room was ok but could have done with a freshen up, but it had everything we needed and we slept well which was the main point. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted good. Would we use again? Yes we would as even though it could do with a freshen the up it ticked all the boxes for a short overnight stay. 10 hours between arriving and leaving.

Although a pub as well, it was very quiet. Good, freshly cooked pub grub. Family friendly.

Good value but needs work. Food was good. Noisy fan spoiled sleep.

Lovely staff .The evening meal was good and the breakfast very good.The hotel is a bit tired but the bed was very comfy and clean.

This hotel is much harder to review than is normal. There is so much (that is important) that is good, but there are negatives. It depends where your priorities lie what you might make of it. To begin with- it's great value for money. All the staff are determined to make the stay a good one- they care! The food was all good and the chef came to check we were happy with the meal. The room was clean and a good size and had all the usual comforts. The log fire in the bustling bar is a great feature. Almost all the negatives are cosmetic- our bathroom in particular was a long way from being pretty- although everything (just about) worked in there.I would be surprised if the management don't have plans to improve it in due course. If your usual preference is for boutique type hotels you may be disappointed; if good food in front of a log fire, friendly staff and a comfortable night's sleep is your priority- this is for you.

When I arrived I was meeting a work colleague. I got to the door and a lady opened it for me and said “she is waiting for you just around the doorway inside to the right . I was so surprised what a lovely greeting! The key had been collected and we made our way upstairs to our room. A cute room with two single beds as requested all white and fresh looking. The room smelt nice and everything we wanted was there. A dressing table with stool and mirror and a full length miss or near the bathroom. The bathroom was clean and spacious and had Shower sink and toilet lovely and clean with a big window to open if needed. The hotel helped us with a taxi company phone number and said that if we got home late there was a way to get in still. So that we didn’t worry. In the morning we went downstairs and the landlady asked us if we slept ok and did we have a good night out. We were offered cereals and juice and asked what hot drink we would like then said she would do our cooked breakfast for us. It all arrived soon after Cooked to perfection and hot drinks were lovely and hot and freshly made. Eggs bacon sausage mushrooms and tomatoes beautiful and also a ton of toast great service brown and white bread . No rush to pay for the room We felt very relaxed and rested slept well and thought it was great value for money . While we ate breakfast there was a lovely view of the village with horses riding by and locals walking their dogs to the local shop . Lovely setting

We had a fantastic stay at The Castle. The staff were really excellent, and we were very comfortable. We will certainly be returning!

The hotel/pub Is quite dated and hasn't been refurbished in a long long time. The dining room and room I stayed in, was old, carpets need cleaning and there is mild in the en suite, the bar was ok and service was good. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast at all, I have had better in a travel lodge. The area is close to the M20 and the eurotunnel and I expect this is where they get the majority of their business. I wouldn't stay there again

Nice pub/hotel in a little village near Hythe. Very nice staff good breakfast good value
