Chantillys on the Bay

Terrific location on the lagoon. Wonderful view. Easy walk along bayside to town centre. Friendly, efficient staff at reception and restaurant.

Even though a little dated, it is very nice to have a place that is decently priced on the waters edge. Restaurant is well looked after but I did find the morning servings a bit on the small side, make sure to get a package that also includes breakfast. I had a studio apartment so the bedroom does not face the ocean if that is something that you are after please ask the staff and you could get an upgrade for a small extra. If you have mobility issues there is no lift available as the rooms are on the 1st and 2nd floor. The Banyan bar next door is pleasant to use with reasonably priced drinks, I would suggest getting the jugs of Tusker (local beer) if you are staying for a while and would like to watch the water in the bay. Make use of the Kayaks, just remember to ask staff for paddles, if you are not experienced in kayaking do not go too far, the water is only about 1.4 meters deep with a very light swell so if you fall out it should be easy enough to get back in. The wood fired pizzas at the banyan bar are very tasty and I would suggest trying them out whilst you are there. Chantilly's is manned 24 hours a day so if you have any needs you can ask staff for help. When flying out of Vanuatu make sure to arrive at the airport 2 hours before departure. Make use of the buses (Mini-vans) if you have time and do not mind seeing the seedier side of the island. Try to make sure you have correct change (150 vat) I generally paid 200 vat. Prices for taxi is at the airport.

Location is good - walking distance to markets, shops and supermarket. Hotel room was nice and big, clean. Hotel has a big swimming pool and sunbathing chairs. Sad that there is no beach area near the hotel. Staff is welcoming, very friendly and helpful. Food at the restaurant is very tasty. I reccommend bokking a day tour around the island (local living, school, chocolate factory, lesson about things you can make out of coconuts, tasty lunch, kava tasting etc). That was an amazing experience!

Comfortable beds and good self catering facilities in room. Small hob and kettle. A professional feeling hotel with a really good breakfast option - we watched tropical fish in the sea from the balcony. Easy walk into the centre of Vila along the sea front.

After a 'not so good' heck-in and a few problems on first night with refrigerator the management sorted things out the next morning andupgraded us to a one bedroom apartment and gave us complimentary daily breakfast. Also just one floor to climb stairs, which was appreciated by us older clients. so handy to local mall and french boulangerie, and also a pleasant walk to the central market along a new pathway beside the sea and beach.. Service was very pleasant and the staff very helpful. Nice restaurant on the beachfront and all day service for drinks and snacks. Very nice swimming pool and poolside resting area. We were surprised to find at end of second day that there were steps down to a beach area with a licensed bar and plenty of seating and lying areas.. Lots of sahdy trees, ideal for relaxing. Would definitely return to stay another time.

Good accommodation close to town. The walk to town is a delight along the waterfront. Staff helpful and cheerful.

property owners need to spend more money on fixing basic maintenance, provide appropriate mattresses, lights that work, sliding doors that open. the staff were lovely, helpful and always smiling.

The Port Vila experience was good. The best thing, what sticks in the memory, is how naturally friendly the locals are, in this hotel they were great. The hotel is overpriced, a good location but overpriced. WiFi was shocking... we were told that there were issues outside of the Hotels control but the local bar up the road was working fantastic. Rooms are tired and the place needs a bit of $$ spent bringing it up to the equal the rates charged.
