Star and Garter Hotel

This hotel has closed down and hasn’t notified Expedia or any other agent and is still taking bookings on their own website directly. Expedia gave me shocking customer service when I raised this with them. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to get them to believe me. Total disaster. Avoid Expedia at all costs.

Clearly a well used and well loved hotel with some marks on the bath panel and walls. But the room was spotless, not a hair or bit of dust anywhere! Staff were so welcoming and friendly, I feel bad for the poor lady who had to let me in at midnight when I couldn’t get the code to work but I do appreciate there’s always someone to help. Could be noisy but it’s above a lively pub so I cannot complain and the atmosphere was really nice :) I will be in the area every few months so I think I’m now a loyal customer of theirs :)

Clean, central and friendly

Despite booking a family room only one bed available, we were promised the additional bed would be made up it wasnt. Breakfast was advertised as starting at 0730 we were informed on arrival that it would not be available to 0830. We would not have booked if we knew this. The TV did not work and no internet code was provided. Further there was loud music till the early hours

Room was beautiful and clean. Property fulfilled my request for simple birthday decoration for my room. Easy check in and check out. Property just next to train station, easily accessible to Edinburgh city. Those who feel pricey to stay at around Edinburgh city, please come stay here instead as it will save you a lot! Great place to stay!

Spotlessly clean, extremely friendly staff, very comfortable bed and 5star breakfast, will definitely be booking again.

The hotel rooms are boutique styled and well provisioned with water and tea, coffee etc. Be aware - all rooms are on the top floor and there is no elevator. Staff were very friendly, Ahmed excellent. Breakfast was slightly disorganised which let the experience down.

Exceeded expectations, great bar and food, modern, clean room with quality finishes, absolutely fantastic. Will definitely stay again.
