I recently stayed at **The Samaya Ubud** in one of their **Riverfront Villas**, and overall it was a beautiful and memorable experience with a few areas that could be improved. The resort itself is set in a stunning natural environment, with lush greenery and a peaceful river running along the bottom of the property. The setting really is one of the highlights — serene, scenic, and perfect for anyone wanting to unwind in nature. The river is fast‑flowing and adds a lovely atmosphere, although it is a little muddy and not the cleanest, but still pleasant to look at from the villa and walkways. The **villas are spacious, attractive, and positioned beautifully**, and the resort grounds — including the gardens, walkways, restaurant, and lobby — are all clean, well maintained, and enjoyable to explore. However, the **villa pools are over 2 metres deep**, which is unusually deep for what is essentially a dipping pool. In my view, this makes them unsuitable for younger children or anyone who isn’t a confident swimmer, and it’s something guests should be aware of before booking. While the villas are comfortable, they are starting to feel a little tired, and I think some **renovation and modernisation** would really elevate the experience. The outdoor furniture and pool area in particular could benefit from an upgrade to match the luxury feel the resort aims for. One thing that truly stands out at The Samaya Ubud is the **staff**. They are brilliant — warm, friendly, and always willing to help. The **spa is excellent** as well, offering great massages and a relaxing atmosphere, and it’s definitely one of the resort’s strongest features. When we visited, the resort was very quiet, likely due to the Gulf conflicts affecting travel at the time, which made the stay even more peaceful. In terms of dining, the **food options at the resort are limited**, and while the restaurant is fine for basic dishes, it doesn’t offer much variety. Because of this, we often went into **Ubud town centre**, where we enjoyed some truly fantastic food with far more choice and flavour. Overall, The Samaya Ubud is a **beautiful resort with stunning natural surroundings, excellent staff, and a great spa**, but the villas are beginning to show signs of age, and the deep pools and limited dining options are worth noting. With some renovation and improvements to the food offering, this resort has the potential to be exceptional once again.

We stayed for four nights for our honeymoon and were blown away by the friendliness of the staff and the overall experience of our stay. We were welcomed as friends upon arrival and upgraded to a riverside villa. It was very private and so peaceful with just the sound of the Ayung River. The Swept away restaurant was an idyllic setting and the found was of a very high quality. We went on a bike tour with a member of staff (so sorry we can’t remember his name) and he took us to see his traditional Balinese home and met his brother. Such an experience. We tried the Yoga and also had a free drive into Ubud and experienced the hustle and bustle. We loved the golf buggy rides to/from our room each day (it is hilly) and also used the Spa which again was amazing. The views from breakfast were the perfect start to each day and such a varied menu. We genuinely couldn’t find anything wrong with the hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone. We had an incredible stay at The Samaya Ubud during our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a more peaceful and memorable experience. Our villa was absolutely beautiful, complete with its own private pool nestled within the forest surroundings. Waking up each day to the sights and sounds of nature created a wonderfully atmosphere and made us feel completely immersed in the beauty of Ubud. What truly made our stay special, however, was the exceptional service. Every member of staff was welcoming and attentive, but a special mention must go to Komang, who went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. His warmth, professionalism, and genuine kindness made a lasting impression on us and added a very personal touch to our honeymoon experience. The resort strikes the perfect balance between luxury and serenity, offering a secluded retreat while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality. We felt genuinely cared for from start to finish. We would highly recommend The Samaya Ubud to anyone looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway in Bali. It was a truly unforgettable experience, and we hope to return one day.

We booked via Luxury Escapes with all meals included (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner), 90min couples massage voucher, trek around the resort, shuttle to the town centre, room service, twice daily room maintenance and lucky to see Balinese performers during dinner on one of the Sunday evenings - this all means incredible value. My wife particularly enjoyed our own private pool. The things that stood out the most would be the friendly and extremely attentive staff, the delicious meals cooked and baked in-house, the sound of the river from our villa and the extremely well kept facilities, villas and gardens. You could spend most if not all of your time within the resort to relax and recharge amongst nature. It was all a combination of the small details that makes this such a luxury experience, I am sure I have missed a lot of details in this testimony that you'll really need to see for yourself. We were close to some external activities such as white water rafting, ATV and visit to sacred monkey forrest which we thoroughly enjoyed. Much love to the team at Samaya, from Damus and Ness.

A beautiful experience on every level. Lovely villa, great food, friendly staff. Wonderful. We will be back.

Just about to leave after three nights in an Ayung riverside villa. We came to relax and certainly achieved that. These pool villas are surrounded by beautiful gardens and have a view from the cute relaxation pods down to the river. Our villa was perfectly located a short level walk between the very reasonably priced spa and the Swept Away restaurant which is located along the riverside. Food was excellent at this restaurant where we were pampered by Komang and the staff. The morning view to the volcanoes from the separate breakfast restaurant was spectacular. A great place for serious unwind.

Ultimate combination of luxury peace and nature trail . It is a must go destination. Very nice rooms , swimming pool , stay and food . Super comfort for relaxation.

Wonderful stay. Property is beautiful and well maintained. Villas have private pools. Pool is deep at 1.8m but they provide floaties if requested. Guided morning walks were very informative and a good way to explore the surrounding area. About 15 mins to city centre. Wonderful service across the board. Gorgeous spa.
