The Samaya Ubud

This hotel is more than excellent. Superb accommodation, wonderful professional staff, and heavenly food and service. I have visited more than 60 countries and stayed in many hotels. This one stands out as the best.

2012年から13回目の宿泊です。今回初めて3ベッドルームビラに宿泊しました。お部屋はとても広くて快適です。サマヤウブドはお部屋の掃除が大変早くて完璧です。朝食に行っている間に広いすべての部屋を完璧に掃除してくれます。スタッフの皆さんも大変親切で皆さん私たちのことを覚えていてくれておかえりなさいと声をかけてくれます。バリ島の家族ができたように感じます。新しいGMとフロントマネージャーのアユさんが、完璧に日本語を話すことができますので、日本人の方にも是非行っていただきたいです。

A truly outstanding experience from start to finish. Beautiful villa and pool and surroundings. Could move in there and be quite happy. Nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast, lunch and dinner delicious. Hard to put into words what is so special about this place. Family of 2 with 7 year old stayed for 3 nights. They made it fun for him, letting him ride in the front, asking him about his toys. He loved it as much as we did. Full body massage was perfect and prices are great. Every single staff member goes out of their way. The villa is cleaned by stealth ninjas like magic without you seeing anyone and everyone knows who you are and are so kind and friendly. Views of the rice field are just as beautiful of ones we’ve visited. Absolutely outstanding and next time will be back for longer. Thank you for having us.

It’s hard to sum up the feeling of arrival at The Samaya. We had a very long journey from the airport and the minute we walked into reception and were welcomed with a fragrant frangipani garland all our weariness was washed away. The next 5 days were magical. We stayed in a villa next to the river and all we could hear was nature. We ventured out to Ubud one evening and on a day trip but were always glad to retreat back to our villa to relax after the crazy traffic. We really enjoyed our accommodation, it was spotless and the team who cleaned each morning were so quick and efficient. We had breakfast every morning at the top of the hill. You can call for a buggy or we often walked as it was a great way to see the plants and nature. The breakfast was varied and delicious and always brought to you with a smile. We had afternoon tea at the Swept Away restaurant by the river and we ate there every evening. The food was fantastic; tasty local dishes with a 5 star twist. We decided to treat ourselves to a massage on our second day and it really helped us get into the relaxed Samaya vibe. There are several activities offered. We took advantage of the trekking option. It was so good we did it twice to two different areas. It was an excellent way to get off site and learn more about the area, flora, fauna and local people. I would definitely recommend the treks, we had really knowledgeable and friendly guides. We were genuinely disappointed to leave, it was the best holiday I’ve ever had!! The friendly, welcoming team make you feel at home from the minute you step out the taxi.

What an incredible experience. From the moment you step inside the Samaya, all your troubles are swept away. From reception, your private butler, the two restaurants… everything was simply perfect. It is indeed a 10/10. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was so kind. The food was incredible and chef Roy and his team in the kitchen created an incredible menu with such variety. Thank you to Aru and your team. It is a smaller resort (which is perfect) but so many staff who are eager to make your stay awesome! Thank you Samaya Ubud- you’re perfect!

Looking back on our 3-day stay at the Samaya, the one thing that truly stands out is the people that work there. They make this place what it is and I cannot praise them highly enough. From the outset, they go the extra mile to make you feel special. Your every need is anticipated and they deliver with a level of courtesy, professionalism and charm rarely encountered. They are some of the most welcoming, humble and engaging people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. In terms of the villa, this was lovely throughout. The air conditioning was extremely effective and very much needed in the local climate. The bed was enormous and the pillows were very comfortable (something that isn’t always a given). The bathroom had his and her sinks and a lovely rain shower. However, it was the jacuzzi bath that we enjoyed the most. Outside there is a sizeable pagoda and very well sized pool that had a surprisingly length and depth to it. The villa was set in its own grounds and this added to a sense of real privacy. The standard of the food here was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Breakfast in the Scene restaurant at the top of the hill overlooking the rice fields and jungle was very special. Lunch and evening meals were served in the Swept Away restaurant that overlooks the river. It had simply stunning views and was a haven of peace and tranquility. The hotel also offers a complimentary afternoon tea and this is well worth partaking in. We didn’t have a single meal here that wasn’t top notch and that made us look forward to the next one. The location of these villas is quite remote and we loved this. If you wish to go into Ubud, then there are regular courtesy buses that you can use. We went into Ubud once but found it too chaotic, so retreated back to the serenity of the Samaya. The grounds are extremely hilly but this is not an issue whatsoever as you are transported around the complex on a chauffeur driven buggy. If you need a buggy from your villa, simply call reception and one arrives within less than 2 minutes every time. From the restaurants, the staff call them for you. Everything is made so simply and hassle-free. Finally, the spa. We had a complementary hour-long couples massage and this was fantastic. We had never had a message together as a couple and it was a lovely experience. Our only regret is that we ran out of time to revisit the spa. It is worth noting that the price of the treatments is excellent value-for-money and we would encourage you to give it a try. 3 biggest plus points (in no particular order): 1. Amazing staff 2. Sublime food 3. Stunning location The only potential drawback maybe for some people is that you get a lot of wildlife due to the location. We saw some amazing sites from butterflies to tree frogs, bats to spiders, and we loved it. However, if you’re not comfortable in nature, then this may not be your perfect match but you’ll be missing out!

The SAMAYA Hotel UBUD, was a stunningly beautiful tranquil retreat just outside the crazy busy UBUD. From the moment we arrived there we felt at home. We had a beautiful room at the bottom of the hill right by the river. It had a gorgeous garden with an outdoor nest bed and its own pool. The super king sized bed was so comfortable. The breakfast restaurant was at the top of the hill with a magnificent view across the lush green “jungle” and paddy fields. There was a golf cart that you could call to get you to the top of the steep hill, but we found it walkable. The evening restaurant is set at the bottom of the hill next to the river, a gorgeous location. There was bug spray supplied on the table if you are attractive to the mozzies. We managed to get through our time here without being bitten, but we did use bug spray. It also has a well equipped gym. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were really attentive. We had a day at the hotel relaxing after a busy time in Hong Kong on route to Bali, but after that enjoyed a downhill cycle tour and then a day out with a guide who took us a number of places in and around UBUD. We were treated like friends wherever we went. The local people are so warm and friendly. We loved our stay here.

Beautiful property except needs to pull their socks up regarding house keeping. Extremely courteous and helpful staff. The F&B manager was extremely helpful.

Self-contained with a pool. The housekeeping came immediately when there was a problem with the wooden floor. I like that the shower bathroom was lined with wood. Spa was great esp beside Ayung River. Breakfast was great too.

Wished there were more options for families and kids like trekking in the afternoon. The glass bottled waters were too tightly closed. Very hard to open. The swimming pool steps in the villa had a bit of mold. Can be better maintained.
