The Samaya Ubud

Property is beautiful and the kitchen team was amazing. They catered for our dietary requirements and made delicious dishes that were not on the menu. It's a peaceful place which is highly recommended for couples. For young families, there's no kids club and toddler friendly activities. The villa pool is 1.8m deep so not so great for kids.

I wanted to visit Ubud as part of a tour around Bali. I was given a luxury Villa with my own swimming pool and outdoor seating area. The Villa itself was superb, it had a large bed, lounge area and jacuzzi, overall, pure luxury. The complex itself I found to be very relaxing and spiritual with Balinese music playing in the communal areas. The catering was varied and delicious, again nothing was too much trouble. The weather wasn’t great which prompted me to use the facilities more than I might have done.

Quiet, private and very relaxing. Away from the hubbub of Ubud, but close enough to go to experience the local resturants and amenities. In house Spa treatments were excellent. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. Local tours were well organised, staff were knowledgeable.

The highlights of our stay were the staff (perfect) the dining areas and food ( good as any) Service (perfect) Attention to guests and helpfulness (warm and friendly). Almost a perfect stay. But, the attention to maintenance lacks management direction and application. I would not use the gym due to black mould on the ceiling. This was cleaned upon complaint but not disinfected. Our villa had a number of leaks with paint peeling from the walls over damp spots. The surrounding paving at the pool was unsteady and loose. The gardens are beautifully kept so why is the maintenance so bad in other the guest living areas? Clearly no plan of inspection and repair (get one guys) If you are planning a stay here get assurance from your travel advisor that your villa has no mould and if free from damp and leaks.

The Samaya Ubud is a perfect escape into nature. It is surrounded by forest, paddy fields, and the Agung River runs along it. I booked a 3 night stay in a hilltop pool villa. It was secluded, luxurious, and had a huge jacuzzi. My package included breakfast,dinner, and afternoon tea. Breakfast is served at the Scene restaurant, which is aptly named. It overlooks a scenic postcard perfect paddy field. The a la carte breakfast was a nice touch compared to a buffet. The selection on the menu was varied and could be customized. Everything was freshly prepared. Afternoon tea was delightful. There was a selection of sweet and savory treats. This was served at Swept away along the bank of the river. Dinner is a la carte and is served here as well. There is live music on a Saturday night.A can of insect repellent was provided. Surprisingly, despite it being the rainy season(December), there were no mosquitos. I booked a 3 hour spa package at the riverside spa. The therapists were very skilled, helpful, and very hospitable.The natural products used were revitalizing. Once you check in,there is no need to leave this place.

We stayed 5 nights in a 2 bedroom family pool villa. The villas are outdated however clean and maintained reasonably well. The bathrooms are nice and spacious. Although linen and towels need a complete overhaul - many thin and don’t really dry properly, not expected in a 5 star resort. We had a few hiccups on arrival- but rectified promptly by staff. The 2 bedrooms are separate from each other, so may not be suitable for young families. The family villas are directly off the road. So security is not as good as the ones in the main area, which is manned by a security guard 24/7. There was a lot of noise off the road, so not as peaceful as the one bedroom villas in the main area. The villas are all very enclosed without a view but good for privacy. We were on a luxury escapes package which included breakfast and lunch or dinner. The limited menu for dinner was not changed during our stay so became a bit repetitive. The food however was excellent. Breakfast (ala carte) was fantastic. Room service was available for all meals at no extra charge on our package which was great on rainy days. Afternoon tea each day was also a lovely inclusion. Dinners at the restaurant offered complementary table water with our meals, which is different to many of the other Bali resorts that make you pay for water at dinner. We celebrated our child’s birthday during our stay and a small cake was given at dinner which was nice. Yet, no other recognition during the day- quite unlike any other resort we’ve stayed at during special events, where a bigger fuss has always been made for the ‘special person’ Staff all pleasant and respectful, but don’t really go out of their way. The restaurant manager was however very sincere and kind. What was outstanding at the Samaya were the massages. Probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Duwi, Ani, Lena were amazing!! A 5/5 for massage team. Probably made our stay worth our while. Wish we booked more treatments! Very affordable too, compared to other Bali resorts. Before the treatments you can book the private sauna in some of the treatment rooms which was an added bonus. Rate our stay a 3/5 Massage team 5/5 (highlight for us) Overall 4/5

This resort is absolutely incredible! I cannot recommend it enough. I have traveled pretty extensively and this is the best resort I have stayed at. If you are going to Ubud, this is the place to stay. The staff is incredible - everyone is always so welcoming, kind, accommodating and nice. They knew us by name and that is a great personal touch. I really enjoyed having our own private villa with a pool. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon so it was nice to escape the heat in the pool without being surrounded by other people. The breakfast at the resort is very good and offers a good variety of options and are able to accommodate food allergies. Thew view from the restaurant is also beautiful as you are overlooking a rice terrace. It was a great way to start the day. We did the romantic dinner at the restaurant one night and that was a wonderful experience. They decorate your table area and make you feel super special as you have a multi-course meal, which was delicious. The spa is a must. My husband and I did a 2 hour treatment that was amazing and then I went back 2 days later for another massage for myself. The whole experience is very relaxing and you feel so good after. The resort offers a shuttle service into the city center, which is extremely convenient. If you need to go or be picked up at a different time, they are able to arrange a taxi for you. They also offer a golf cart service to get around the resort property. They offer different daily activities and I would recommend doing them. We were only able to do the morning walk one as we had tours the other days. We very much enjoyed the walk and getting to see the area around the resort.

The experience at The Samaya Ubud was exceptional - beautiful villa with garden and private pool set on the river in a tropical forest. Our stay included meals so we ate breakfast and dinner in the two restaurants each day. As a coeliac, the staff’s awareness of gluten free food and cross-contamination issues was excellent. There was a wide variety of choices on the menu and we also enjoyed a complimentary afternoon tea and cocktail each day. The staff are highly professional and friendly at the same time. They are happy to chat and talk about the local area and share their knowledge. Their kindness and outstanding service was a highlight of our stay. Only a few minutes from the main street, the resort is incredibly quiet - all you can hear is the river and the trees - a wonderful respite from the noise and busy traffic of Ubud. We highly recommend a stay at The Samaya Ubud!
