Tekapo Heights

Super easy check in and very comfortable room. It was nicely furnished and we had a lovely view of the lake. We wish we could have stayed longer, the bathroom although detached from our room was gorgeous, it was private to us but we had a key for it - it has a beautiful bath tub as well as spacious shower. It was perfect for our trip and literally a stones throw from the star gazing tour we had booked.

Very disappointing stay. 1. Most travelers here rent SUVs, so if you’re not confident with your parking skills, it’s better to just park on the street. 2. The parking spaces are clearly marked with room numbers. However, after we went out to buy dinner and came back, our designated parking space had been taken by someone else. We called the host and it took more than 10 minutes for them to finally answer. When they did, their attitude was very poor and they simply said: “If someone took your spot, just park somewhere else.” Then what is the point of labeling the parking spaces with room numbers? And why not inform guests at check-in that parking is actually first come, first served? The host had no intention of helping or resolving the situation and just told us to park anywhere. What if other guests run into the same problem? 3. There is no table at all in the room, which makes it very inconvenient. 4. The bathroom is extremely poorly designed. You basically have to take a very quick shower, otherwise the room becomes unbearably stuffy. But if you open the door for ventilation, the water floods out. 5. The lighting in both the room and the bathroom is extremely dim. One of the bathroom light bulbs is even missing. But honestly, we didn’t want to spend another 10 minutes trying to call the host again just to possibly hear something like: “Maybe you can use the bathroom in the room next door.” If you enjoy being frustrated during your stay, feel free to book this place.

Great location, parking and spacious high spec bathroom

The room was cold on arrival and so cramped, that it felt like amenities had been put in to tick a box rather than create a pleasant environment to stay in. Price per square footage was higher than other lodges.
