Ivy House Country Hotel

Individual little blocks were quite quaint. Nice and quiet

Rang and visited earlier in day, but no one was there, only a recorded message available. Message said reception manned between 0900 & 1700. But I called a few times between 10am and 1300 still only a recorded message. Map showed a footpath between hotel and local marina, but it was a muddy path, not good in a suit And approach road dreadful

The setting was beautiful. Lovely spacious room, pet friendly, with a door straight out to a pretty terraced area. Lovely and quiet.

A little disappointed the bar and breakfast/snack facilities were very limited. There was a wedding at the venue that weekend so appreciate the hotel was catering mainly for that event, but seems us 'non-wedding' residents were put on the back-burner.

The road and access to the hotel was terrible and would be a factor in us booking again

The scenery and grounds were beautiful.

There was white noise in my room. Nothing to eat.

Well I really don't know where to start, on arrival we parked in the on site carpark and noticed the many signs saying cars are parked at owners risk and the accommodation does not take any responsibility for your car if damaged,! This should have been the warning to get back in our car and drive to another accommodation,but we decided to go to the reception and with that there was a young boy (about 11years old) checking us in with a lady who commented,( his mum has just gone to the hairdressers and will probably be about 3 hours so he's helping me out) and took an extra fee for our dog 3 pound for the nights we were staying, so we got our keys and were told where our room would be, we asked about the restaurant that was mentioned in the booking. Com advertising and we're told it was closed and that they get food delivered for functions out sourced, we then asked about the bar as it would have been nice to get back after a day out on the beach or in town having had to find somewhere to eat ( and I don't drink and drive) to come back and relax at the bar recommended on the advertisement on again booking.com !!! Was not possible as they had no one to open the bar or run it for everyone , ( but looking over reception the lady had a small glass and it wasn't a cup of tea) we fet as it was late have a night there and talk in the morning. Awake in the morning, realising we didn't have any toilet rolls, my partner went to reception and before she could say anything,the lady said are you checking in ,,!!! Which my partner replied no we've been here and checked in yesterday, but would it be possible to get a toilet roll as we hadn't any, the reply was ( how many have you had) I said 1 , ok she replied you can have another 1 , which I found very strange, then there was a wedding on the second day we were there and we're told not too make to much noise PLEASE ,I couldn't understand why?

It was a shame they were not doing food when we stayed but understand that is has just changed owners. I am sure when everything is up and running again it will be great.
