Ivy House Country Hotel

Arrived and found that there was no restaurant open and staff told us the bar shut at7pm so if we wanted anything we would have to go to town. Room was not clean, lots of cobwebs and spiders and the bathroom had seen better days as the taps were loose and leaking. Extremely hot day so asked for a fan but staff told me that they didn’t think they had one but didn’t seem bothered to help in any way. We left early in the morning 7.30 am, but no staff anywhere and nothing to say where we should leave the keys. In the end we left them in the post box then phoned the hotel but no one answered so left a message advising what we had done.

It felt like self catering as there was no breakfast, lunch or dinner availability. Bar closed at 7 pm

The location grounds and main buildings are lovely.

The rooms are dated. They would benefit from an update and some love poured into them. A fridge wouldnt go a miss theres plenty of room and the net curtains need replacing. The lack of a bar with hotel hours and on site kitchen make it soulless at times despite such beautiful grounds, but the little Tesco is walkable and provides all your essential drinks and snacks if the bar is closed.

Lovely grounds and location. Perfect for the dog. Very clean.

The bar and restaurant was not open on the first night because of a wedding, second night bar opened at 5pm. No food available either evening. Breakfast was available.

The location, the wildlife, the peace and quiet. The Ivy House Hotel has recently changed hands and there are plans to revamp the room. Currently the rooms are comfortable but do need upgrading.we spoke to the owner who was just lovely.
