Leonardo Hotel Newcastle Quayside

Location was okay for what we needed. Nice view of the river from the bar area. Staff member who checked us in was lovely.

The facilities were not up to standard for a 4 star property. The bathroom was rundown, the paint was chipping off everywhere and finishes were not good. Bathroom lighting was non existent, only one small light above the bathroom mirror. No plug socket by the beds. Very small car park not nearly enough for the whole hotel. Breakfast was abysmal! For a 4 star property you would expect a well executed breakfast. Cooked breakfast had no taste, orange juice tasted cheap, only croissants no other pastries or pancakes/waffles. We arrived 30 minutes before breakfast ended and none of the food was stocked up well. We booked here as we wanted proper beds and not just a pull out single bed. In hindsight we would have been better off booking the premier inn across the river, at least you know you get what you’re paying for there.

Location, staff, bedroom

Breakfast was often disappointing. Many items promised in menu were not available. The excuse offered was that large tour parties took priority. A hotel of this status should be able to provide good service for all, especially independent travellers who are paying full rate

Location was perfect, about 10 minutes by car to the city centre! Room with a view to the river was amazing!

Extra’s from the little shop are expensive. Parking spaces are limited.

The hotel is great, but then we came for a funeral and we were out all day into the wee hours. Had to make way back early on the next morning. The room for 3 was clean and adequate for our needs. We did not sample food though. We all agree we will come back to the hotel again as it is in a good riverside location south of the Tyne.

There was no toilet brush to clean up the pan. Every hotel should provide one.
