SureStay Plus by Best Western Montrose

Close to Black Rock Canyon. Convenient location within walking distance of several restaurants. We were in a second, separate building also housing the pool area. It did not require key entry into the building. While at breakfast another guest asked to have the waffle batter replenished and was told it takes too long to make it.

The worst in my 52 years on earth.

During our stay, the location, cleanliness, and safety did not meet our expectations. Both rooms we checked into had strong odors—one of cigarette smoke and another with a musky animal smell. To make matters worse, one of the rooms did not have an attached smoke alarm, which raised serious safety concerns. We brought these issues to the front desk, and while the facility itself fell short, the staff was excellent. They were very apologetic, kind, and quick to issue us a refund so we could find another hotel at the last minute.

Unfortunately, our stay did not meet expectations. We certainly weren’t expecting the Marriott for the price, but this property still fell far below what we anticipated. We are typically very low-maintenance guests—as long as the rooms are clean and the facility feels safe and secure, we’re happy. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The location felt run down and poorly maintained, and the cleanliness of the rooms was unacceptable. Both rooms we were offered had strong, unpleasant odors—one reeked heavily of cigarette smoke while the other had a musky animal smell. The carpets and furnishings looked worn, stained, and unkept, which made the overall experience uncomfortable. Even more concerning, one of the rooms was missing an attached smoke alarm, raising major safety concerns. Between the odors, cleanliness issues, and safety lapses, this unfortunately ranked among the lowest hotel experiences we’ve had. After checking into two rooms and finding the similar issues, we decided not to stay.

Close to black canyon of the gunnison national park. Good breakfast, good service and clean.the AC in the unit had a noise when running but we were still able to sleep.

For the price, it was ok. Hotel stays in Montrose are expensive.

I Booked through Hotels.com and was not able to stay due to the fact there were no vacancies. I have been charged for the room that I was unable to stay in.

Manager was friendly and accommodating. The room needed repair as the vinyl tile in the kitchen and bathroom was coming up and sinking in in areas. The hottub was as cold as the pool.
