This place is a bit over-priced. the condition is tolerable but only with very basic accommodations, facilities are old and sometimes crappy. staff were OK, but very slow processing requests, which is actually common in this country. the hotel is next to some warehouse facility and very noisy in the evening. It's quite far from shopping street. overall, not recommended.

If you are looking for a budget hotel, a simple clean, and safe place to sleep, and will be out during the day, this is a place to stay. Close to the city center and shopping mall. Staff is very friendly. I stayed in a room facing the street and it was really loud during the night, the hotel staff was willing to meet my request of changing to a quieter room without extra charge, appreciate that. I was stayed here for 3 night as the place closes to the Xplor and Xcarte park. I would recommend it.

the hotel is good, it has spacious and nice rooms, the beds are comfortable, it is always very clean and the staff is very friendly, it is well located if you need restaurants nearby and walk to the 5th avenue. The bad , the pillows are not good, the toilet is damaged a day and a half, the water goes constantly, and we were 3 days without wifi. there is also a market place in front that do not let sleep because they start at 3 in the morning, it would be good to install double windows that do not let the noise pass.

Good Clean Cleaning staff is super friendly and helpful AC works well Walking distance to EVERYTHING Beach, shopping, food,ADO bus station,5ta,pharmacy,money exchange (btw Sterling exchange has best rates) Bad Reception staff NOT friendly or welcoming they should take lessons in friendliness from cleaning staff Shower pressure No wash cloths Not enough clothes hangers Ugly Shower almost ALWAYS COLD especially in the morning In conclusion would stay again this is my third time there . HPP is clean simple and provides what I need .I can get past the unfriendliness of reception housekeeping makes up for it . Reception staff has been the same for the last three years so has cleaning staff. cleaning staff remembered and acknowledged us staying there two other times . Cleaning staff sees just as many people as reception does . How is it that they remembered us but reception doesn't ? Or at least even acknowledges or thank us for our repeat business . Come on every stay has been 17-20 days each time If you want to dine at EL FOGON that is on the corner but don't want to wait standing on the street for an hr for a table . walk 4-6 blocks either to the north or south there is one in either direction that are both just as busy without the wait and just as good

Cheap, no frills hotel in walking distance of Playa's 5th avenue. Excellent value for money. Good wifi and air con. We were first given a room without a toilet seat, but the staff quickly gave us another room on our request.

We stayed in Hotel Plaza Playa for one night with my boyfriend. We checked in like at 10pm and went directly to sleep. My boyfriend woke me up at 3am to check on him because he said he felt like something walking on his body. I turned the light on and find the room full of ants. I went to the receptionist and ask to direct me with the manager in regards my issue and she said that there was no manager in the hotel and that I had to wait until he started his shift and that there were no more rooms available. We checked out and I asked if we could get a refund and she said to give her my phone number and that the manager will call me back. Its been 3 days and I have not received a call back nor a refund. The receptionist was rude and didn't mind my issue. I showed her all the pictures and said that all they could do is to clean in. How can you rent a room full of ants and not do anything for your guest?

"Always convenient"

8.0

This is my go to hotel in Playa. Small and unassuming, the room rates are always reasonable. It is situated close to the new bus station and not far from the strip. The only issue that I've ever had with it, is that sometimes it can be noisy due to the proximity to the main road.

Excellent condition for a 3-star hotel. Newly renovated room, comfortable mattress, mini-fridge worked well, had basic amenities. Had animal towel decor on the beds, nice touch. Immaculately clean floors. 50+ channels in English and Spanish. Air conditioning worked well.

"a week in Playa"

10.0

Just back from a week a this nice hotel. We very much enjoyed our stay. We are not all inclusive people, we do not usually eat in "tourist" restaurants, especially in Mexico. Our modus operandi is local places. I booked this hotel off of another review that said "clean hotel and comfortable beds". That was right on. The hotel and our room was cleaned immaculately (thank you Mimi!) I would say top quality mattresses. I sleep with my fit bit, and often lightly - in a normal night at home I get 17-35 steps just jostling in the bed at night. At this hotel I was shocked to wake up with zero steps on my fit bit most days. Location, about 4-5 blocks from the main tourist walking street. Another few blocks to the main/best swimming beach in Playa. Its a little far from the Collectivo buses to other towns - on 2nd ave... but only a Stones throw from local ice cream (20 pesos cones) and many tasty local restaurants. Natural food market across the street, Walmart close by too. Nice neighborhood for the most part. Local coffee and breakfast close by - but the cafe in the pictures isn't there anymore. Nice: They make free coffee in the morning - which is nice ... I think unusual in Mexico - they don't seem to be a coffee culture. They leave you two bottles of drinking water every day and another nice touch - they have cold and hot drinking water in each hallway. Each day they make towel animals on your bed, like a cruise. Good A/C especially on hot afternoons arriving to a cool room was a relief. In room refrigerator for beer or milk or whatever.. We asked for a room in the back of the hotel (away from the vegetable market across the street) and had no noise issues. Rooms on the front had a nice balcony. We used the one at the end of the hall. Strikes - our TV was a little spotty - mostly operating in black and white but we were able to get the language setting to English. There are Wifi stations all over the place in the hotel and it was good in our room but not so good in the hallways. The shower was a little hard to dial the temperature in on. Really a very enjoyable stay.
