Hotel Plaza Playa - Near Playa del Carmen Main Beach

I was contemplating writing this review because the staff at The hotel are very nice but I think it’s important future travelers know what they are getting themselves into. My husband and I are on our honeymoon and when we first checked into the hotel we were given a room with a double and single bed. I was certain I had reserved a king size room. The guy told me that he didn’t have one.. after a few minutes, a room was available with a king size bed. When we got to our room we were ready to take a hot shower and go to bed after a long day! There weren’t any towels so we called down and the front desk person brought us some towels. We then turned on the shower... ten minutes later the water was still ICE COLD ! We tried every combination you could think of to get it hot but it didn’t work. We took our cold shower, hopped into bed and went to research what we wanted to do in playa the next day... no internet! I called the front desk and they said the internet doesn’t work with iPhones or iPads! What?? So we decided to go to sleep. This was difficult with the crazy loud noises! The next morning I told the new person at the front desk and I was assured it would be fixed while we were out for the day. We came back later that evening and nothing had been fixed. The next day I spoke with the owner, Fabiola and told her how disappointed we were having no internet and no hot water for the last two days: she begged me... “ I promise I will make this right! Please give me another chance! We will fix everything and if not we will move you to a better room!” I told her ok, yet when we came back still nothing was fixed! At this point I was pretty angry! I asked to be moved to the “better room” we were promised... and guess what? They told me they were full and had no other king size rooms!! That evening, there was a huge club next door that was playing pounding music until 3am. Finally the next day I told Fabiola we wanted to cancel the rest of our reservation! Fabiola said all the right things but when it came down to it, she never did anything to make our stay better. We cancelled the last two night of our reservations and moved hotels. Best decision we made.

Great location. Within 5 min walk to all Playa del Carmen has to offer. Friendly and professional staff. However, greeted by a toilet full of number two and blood on the seat when first walking into room. Our room was also parallel to rooms of another hotel, one of which was having a party at 3 in the morning with loud music and yelling. Because of the close distance we could hear everything, making it hard to sleep. The hotel receptionist was very helpful however and took initiative. The noise stopped within 15 min making it possible to sleep. The room is basic. Just the bare necessities. No wash cloths. No ironing board. No microwave. For the same price our friends got a room at a brand new hotel kiddie corner to ours, completely furnished with a full kitchen including silver ware and pots & pans, and a balcony connecting the living room and bedroom.

clean big rooms. big king size bed, white sheets. big bathroom. good central location. no breakfasts. but you can walk a block for variety of restaurants. staff is very pleasant. the hotel has few parking spots. it is next to a big supermarket.

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights with my adult son. The room was pleasant enough for a 3* hotel. The WiFi in the room was terrible with the connection dropping off every few minutes. We couldn’t even get any WiFi connection for iPads or laptops - only for our iPhones. We had to sit in reception to get a reasonable connection. There were no duvets on the beds - just a top and bottom sheet. I always like to have a duvet even when the weather is warm. The hot water was hit and miss - I think it depended on whether or not other guests were taking showers at the same time. There was a fridge that worked well. The reception staff were friendly. The curtains were quite grubby and needed a good clean. The most annoying thing was the noise at night from a business opposite the hotel which appeared to be a food storage depot. I think it was open throughout the night. It was very hard to sleep with the incessant noise. Perhaps choose a room that doesn’t overlook the street.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel in May 2017. The staff is super nice. The hotel is even better than the pictures. It is superclean, super comfy. I probably have never stayed at a better hotel! Amazing!!!

Third time at this hotel, friendly staff, I had an special request regarding the location of my room and they help me.

Room was ready at arrival , I usually stay close to 5 avenida however this hotel was 4 blocks walking distance , price was great at 1/4 of more of what I usually pay , everything from food to any necessity was a block away , great location , bed was a king comfy bed , Room was large and clean . Only issue was the hot water took a little time to come down , pick a room away from street it does get a little noisy from the business across. No pool no big deal for me was at the beach all day. The nativo restaurant serves great food and great fruit juices at a very reasonable price . Don't get taken to pay $150.00 for a night stay , stay here pay way less .rooms are modern updated with an elevator free parking in front or in private ajoining parking lot . I enjoyed staying here for the $ I saved and for the confort and installation of the hotel , would definitely recommend .

THIS IS OUR 3RD TIME STAYING HERE. EVERY THING WAS ACCEPTABLE BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE A CHANGE IN OWNERSHIP OR MANAGEMENT OVER THE LAST YEAR. YEARS PAST THE COMMON AREAS WERE VERY CLEAN NOT A SPEC OF DUST ANYWHERE IT WAS SPOTLESS , ELEVATOR IS STAINLESS STEEL AND IN SERIOUS NEED OF CLEANING. NOW COMMON AREAS WERE A BIT DIRTY IN NEED OF DUSTING AND CLEANING , PARKING LOT ALWAYS HAD TRASH THIS TIME. ALSO A DISAPPOINTMENT THAT THE CAFE NEXT DOOR IS NO LONGER.

This was my second time to stay at this hotel this year. The first time was in May for six nights and this time I stayed four nights. The hotel is in a great location. A few blocks from 5th avenue and a lot of restaurants nearby. I was disappointed that the breakfast place next to the main lobby was no longer there. Their breakfast was great and affordable. So I ate at a place around the corner. It was good but twice the cost. The staff was supper helpful and I enjoyed this time having all my clothes washed before I left at the laundry mat next to the hotel. My wife appreciated it as well when I got home. Great service for a wonderful price. Enjoyed may week diving and eating around the city of Playa.

We stayed here 2 nights. Quick 5-10 min walk from 5th avenue. My Family and I arrived for one night this year 2017. Didn't have an issue. Its clean. Neat. Decent. Nice Beds. They have BodySoap, Shampoo, Body Lotion, Hand Soap dispensers in restroom and shower for you to use. Once you arrive to your bedroom check they are filled. Its a rather quiet hotel, but acoustics suck. You can hear other people walking in and out. Doors closing, Elevator doors opening, My baby cried a couple of times and my sister heard her...etc.. There is a sign where it tells you to keep quiet, and other guests respect that!! There is a grocery store / restaurant right next to the hotel (corner of 30th Ave and 20nte) Its great for Breakfast. They have typical American breakfasts and power shakes and juices. Also is great to mention across the street "Nativo Restaurant" is also great for breakfasts. Room 17 is great! could easily fit a family of 5. Just be advised, there is a warehouse next to the store mentioned above. They were unloading at 1-3am.
