The Bell Hotel

We have been familiar with the Bell for a number of years having lived in the community in the past. These are fairly new owners who are trying to upgrade services and safety within the constants of listed buildings. While this a friendly atmosphere it should be noted the traveler who stays should be prepared for old world charm and basic amenities although TV and wify are available there are stairs only between floor and not a place for handicap or the unfit It is close to transportation, local walks, and friendly local cafes. It was more than adequate for our needs visiting family and friends and getting to nearby towns by bus and reconnecting with familiar places,

It suited our need for a convenient 2 night stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was warm, clean and had everything we needed. It was also priced appropriately. The twin beds were a little springy but we still slept well. We would go back there!

I arrived at the hotel around 6.30pm. Sat in bed and working until 10.45 when I decided to turn in. That’s when I found the bugs in the bed, and not just one but several. I complained to the on duty manager who confirmed it. He was very apologetic and offered another room but the bathroom wasn’t habitable.

What a lovely evening. We were a party of four, had a meal and a few drinks and was great, the food was really good and plenty of it and very well priced. Been years since we've been in but what a difference, well done to Kim and Mike and all their staff. Warm and welcoming what a turn around. Good luck to you all

Under new ownership. The owners and staff are lovely and give a very warm welcome. Drinks are reasonably priced and good selection behind the bar. Proper pub and a vast history. Rooms are being updated as well as other parts of the pub. Can't fault it, 10/10!

Recently visited the bell hotel couple of times and I must say such a warm friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Had a lovely room. Very clean and comfortable. The homemade lasagna was delicious. We look forward to returning. The price is really good as well and everyone was very friendly. Thank you. Definitely recommended

The new owners have made a real effort to make this a warm and inviting place to spend time. The staff are friendly. The food is amazing - especially the Sunday Roast. The whole place looks so much brighter and livelier and it looks cared for now. It’s a fun place to spend an evening with good company :)

Good stay, good friendly staff! The mattress probably needs replacing but the bedding was nice and clean. Adjusting the shower water temp was not easy but after some time it was ok. Overall, not a luxury type of hotel but for the money I would stay short term again!

Enjoyed a delightful meal in the Bell Hotel this evening. A lovely cosy atmosphere in the restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was well priced and delicious. Will definitely eat here again.
