Was lovely

Beautiful surroundings and Hotel, our first night booked in we were in our lovely room in the evening and unfortunately heating wasn't working as we just had a shower and straight to bed as we were tired from a long day out..We mentioned it to receptionist and they said they will have it sorted, we came back that evening and they said it should be working, so we checked to make sure it was working and all it was blowing was cold air, luckily the receptionist rang our room and ask if everything to our satisfaction, ( we said no as heating still wasn't working, as we stood for 15 minutes testing it out) she said , no problem , i will upgrade you to another room straight away, I couldn't fault the service and professional manner they gave as

When we came to the room originally it was cold so I turned up the temperature on the thermostat which never reacted so I went to the reception and asked what they could do. The woman who then came to inspect the room to see if I was doing anything wrong with the modem entered the room saying "god it is cold in here". This then resulted in a room change. We then went to the second room which was also cold so they put an electric heater in the room to accelerate the heat whilst the room was actually heating up from a system reset she also said. After leaving the hotel to do what we had planned resulting a room payment in your hotel, we came back to a warm room. I then turned the electric heater off (this obviously being a health and safety risk to leave on over night) to then have an awful nights sleep and morning getting out the bed for freezing intervals. Heating is a normal requirement for any hotel let alone one of this high price!

Spa and pool access used to be included here. But you now have to book a slot when you arrive and pay £15 per hour per person. This is not clear on the hotels.com website. No surcharge is advertised. Breakfast was OK, but service and cleanliness was poor (glasses were all cloudy with lipstick stains on some and we had to ask twice for a coffee.

Amazing stay. Rooms were clean, beautifullly decorated. Bed was beyond comfy. Breakfast was delicious. Staff were very friendly, always smiled and said hello when passing in the corridor.

Fantastic facilities and staff

Room was fine, as was breakfast although I have had better selection as only cooked breakfast buffet or limited continental breakfast options were offered. No other options provided which was surprising for such an upmarket venue. Very disappointing was the fact that the use of the pool or gym is NOT included and was asked to pay £15 for the privilege. This was not disclosed beforehand and not in the booking terms or the option provided. This is the first time I have had to pay to use the pool or gym when I am a paying guest. I will reconsider staying again as this is unacceptable and misleading.
