Hotel Apartement La Perle

Apartment is well kept walking distance from train station is abt 5mins.. checking in and out was easy.. the trash were emptied Everyday and towels were replenished Everyday... Great view..with 3 kids with us the space is just right.

Pros: They kept our apartment despite the payment did not go through due to some technical glitch. Sufficient space in the rooms with two fold away beds brilliant for kids. Very close to town centre and train station Cons: No on site reception though contactable on the phone till 22.00 The apartment was advertised and paid for as with balcony and mountain views though none was there. When asked reception team, I was advised that they can't guarantee such availability. It was agreed that they will look into their listing at hotels.com as it is not fair to charge for balcony and view but not provide it.

The hotel is opposite to Sun Star Hotel which is 3 mins away from train station and Gorgernate Rail Station. The most advantage of this hotel is they have kitchen facilities in room, as the price of Swiss restaurants are horribly expensive, it allows us to buy some food in nearby supermarkets and cook by ourseleves. Further, the size of the room is spacious and comfortable.

Apartment was a bit dated. We had a nice break, walking, cycling and exploring. We stayed in other hotels and appartments in Switzerland this was the only one that did not give us a visitors card which gave us reductions on cable cars and trains. This made a stay in Zermatt very expensive. 90 swiz francs each for train to view Matterhorn !!!!!!!

Great location, very comfy, got everything u need

Great location! The hotel was within 10 minutes walk of the train station and also very close to a grocery store. The room (and especially the bathroom) were newly renovated. At over 350 s.f. it was the largest room we've rented since being in Europe for the last three weeks. Also having a coffee maker was wonderful and unique to my experience in European hotels. I liked the kitchenette for storing my cheese in the refrigerator and sometimes I just feel like eating something quick in the room rather than go out for dinner or lunch. There is no on-site staff but that didn't bother us. They left a key in reception area. Staff was available via the room phone. If you want to see anyone in person, the Astoria Hotel is a 5-10 minute walk and their staff is also part of La Perle. Ciro was particularly helpful and nice, even offering coffee and pastry while we were there. You cannot see the Matterhorn easily from the hotel. I was able to see the top of it if I got close to one of the windows. You can leave your luggage in another room after check out if you want to stay in town longer. I loved the town, shops, and restaurants not to mention the main reason for being there - to see the Matterhorn in all her glory! Clouds sometimes cover the top or parts of it so plan to stay a few days to make sure you see it.

Does not have views of the Matterhorn. Swiss natives in Zermatt (not the apartment staff) were the rudest people we met in all of Europe. This is an extremely expensive tourist town which is very different from what I remember from 32 years ago. Recommend passing Zermatt by. There are many other beautiful locations in the alps.
