My overall experience was great. The quality of food was subpar. I didn't enjoy any meals except breakfast. The breakfast buffet was excellent! The WiFi wasn't stable in my room. (Sea Front View #9) Villa Kiva was a great location for relaxation.
Hotel was not bad. A lot of people smoked in the restaurant (seemed like a European crowd) which was very annoying. Had to have my meals outside the resturant. Hotel is a long way from town (about an hour) good for scuba diving .... not much else.
Best Hotel on the east coast of Zanzibar.... Very good food and staff... such a difference from everywhere else we stayed along the Zanzibar coast! Location good for chilling out.... No night life in the area.... Spent the days suntanning and watching the beautiful local maidens hunt for Octopus when the tide goes out....
Lovely. From the gardens to clean beach where you could swim even at low tide as there is a clear path into the sea made by Villa Kiva. Snorkeling, walking to the reef, fish market... kitchen open all day, attentive staff. We want to come again.

We stayed at Villa Kiva for two nights and we had a great time, it was exactly what we were looking for: close to the beach, quiet, great hospitality - perfect vacation! We wish we had more nights there!
As mentioned in the title, Villa Kiva was a gorgeous place to stay. The aesthetic and construction of the buildings, the choices of decor and furniture, and, of course, the beach and water, were all excellent. Staff were courteous, discreet, and helpful. We had a great time at Villa Kiva, and thoroughly enjoyed the One Ocean snorkeling/diving tour or Mnemba Atoll they helped us arrange. (also very professionally run, and we happened upon some dolphins whilst travelling between the excellent snorkeling sites, bonus!)

Quiet retreat, where you can wade out to explore coral reef and watch locals harvesting octopus and seaweed. Great service and stunning vista from restaurant deck.
